Hollywood’s biggest star first belonged to me.

Breaking up with your high school sweetheart was one thing.
Breaking up with Hollywood’s favorite actor? That was a different situation.

I’d been in love with Aiden Walters since I was a little girl. We’d grown up as neighbors in small town Wisconsin. I knew him inside and out, and he knew every single piece of me. I was there when his career took off, and I was almost certain I’d always be a part of his life.

It wasn’t until a scandal broke out that I was forced to end things with Aiden. He didn’t take it very well. The boy I once loved began to hate me. He went off to California to leave all of his past behind—including me.

Five years later, he was back in town for the next few months taking care of some family business. He was staying in the only hotel in our small town. The hotel I now oversaw. For the next few months, I’d be forced to cater to a man whose heart I’d broken all those years ago. A man who resented me. A man who swore he’d never speak to me again.

Now that he was back in town, in constant connection with me, I had to keep reminding myself daily of why I ended things with him in the first place. Otherwise, I’d find myself falling in love with him all over again. Only this time, I was certain that if I fell, he wouldn’t be willing to catch me.

5 “my dream was you” stars!

Omg, I adored Aiden and Hailee. Their second chance romance is beautifully emotive and wonderfully executed.

When they were eight, Hailee and Aiden did not get along. There was always a reason to fight but their parents never let them fight for long before they made them have a hug-a-thon to work it out. Over time they became friends and inseparable. Hailee was the Jerry to Aiden’s Tom. When they were in high school they realized their feelings we more than just friendly and they took a chance. Then one moment changed everything and their friendship ended leaving them both heartbroken.

Five years later, Aiden is a big movie star who comes back to the small town he grew up in. He doesn’t want anything to do with Hailee now but even though he hates her, he can’t escape her. She is everywhere and it makes it hard to hold onto his hate.

These two are amazing. Their unconditional support of each other is remarkable. Aiden was there for Hailee when she needed him the most as a teen and she was there for Aiden when he needed her as an adult. They truly understand each other and I loved their connection. Everything about these two felt real. They each have their own flaws and are opposites in ways but they fit together perfectly. Where Hailee holds in her emotion, Aiden let’s his flow, and even though years pass and they see only hate between them, they can’t be further from the truth.

Their love never ended even when their hearts broke. It was difficult to see the pain they go through and how Aiden tried to hold onto his hate so his heart couldn’t break again but he just couldn’t deny his feelings. These two have a ton to work through and they give us growth, heat, heart, and understanding, and I loved their journey.

“Why aren’t you overthinking this like me? Why aren’t you freaked out?”“Because I know this is right. Because I know we were always supposed to get to this point. Because you’re you, and I’m me, and we’ve always made sense. Because I know it can only get better from here.”

There are twists I didn’t except but no unnecessary drama for the sake of drama. I could see the story playing out as it did in my head and beloved it could happen the way it did.

“You don’t have to be perfect to be loved by me. That’s not how this love works. I don’t only love you on the good days. I love you on the hard ones, too. Be broken, be raw, be damaged. And still, I’ll stay.”

I loved the support of Hailee’s parents and also Aiden’s mother. I also loved that we get to see the other couples from the Compass Series and their connection to Aiden.

Overall, it’s a fantastic addition to the series and I loved it.
