Blurb

I once met a man on a cold Halloween night. He dressed as a superhero, and I dressed in red. For one night, I was his break from reality, and he was the temporary fix for my broken heart.

Two years later, I was given the opportunity of a lifetime to become a senior editor at one of the biggest magazine companies in the world. The only catch? Nail an exclusive interview with New York’s finest bachelor: Connor Roe.

To the rest of the world he was becoming one of the wealthiest men in New York City. To me, he was simply my once upon a time superhero.

My job was to get an exclusive interview with New York’s hottest bachelor. Never in my life did I expect him to want an exclusive with my heart, too.

The only problem with my growing feelings for him? I was set to marry his new business partner.

5 “flashes of love” stars!

It never ceases to amaze me how easily I get lost in this author’s stories. Every single one of them. And Eastern Lights is no different. It’s phenomenal and brings all the feels. It makes you laugh and cry, then laugh and cry all over again. It will undoubtedly break your heart but then it has the ability to piece it back together. You know that when the last page is turned, every broken moment will be worth it for the amazing love stories that comes from the pain.

Connor and Aaliyah meet on Halloween and they have an easy and instant connection. They open up and touch on their pasts. It’s beautiful to see them together but the timing isn’t. They only have a few hours to really get to know each other because when the sun comes up, they’ll go their separate ways and leave it up to fate whether they meet again.

Years later, they finally run into each other again and the timing is even worse. Aaliyah is set to marry Connor’s business partner. When everything goes belly up though, Connor is there to pick up the pieces once again. What follows is a gorgeous love story about growing, healing, learning to love yourself, and finding love when you least expect it.

I adored Connor and Aailyah from beginning. I knew they had something special when they first met but Aaliyah’s heart was broken at the time and though they had an amazing connection, she couldn’t give herself to someone else without healing. I loved the time they spent together that first night and desperately didn’t want the sun to come up.

When they meet again it is a shock. I didn’t know what was going to happen and when everything implodes I was heartbroken for Aaliyah because of the hurt she experiences. However, Connor is there and he believes in Aaliyah. He knows she is worth so much more than she thinks she deserves and his support was everything. Not only does Connor change Aaliyah’s life, she changes his as well in a way he didn’t see coming. He has built his own walls around his heart and it takes Aaliyah to start breaking them down.

She was the first person in my life that looked my way and saw past my smile.

I was invested in Connor and Aaliyah and consumed by their story. I was swept away by their slow burn romance. The buildup is delivered perfectly and I felt every emotion. The blooming possibility and the trust and love that grow filled my heart completely.

There are challenges they must overcome especially when they are faced with unexpected detours in their journey. I love that there is angst and drama but there is no stupidity when it comes to Connor and Aaliyah. They are real and relatable, and loved them completely. I cried when they were apart and I rejoiced when they were together. I understood every fear that comes with loving someone and I was all in when it came to them even when there was heartbreak.

Love didn’t only show its face during happiness. It didn’t skip by only during the sunshine. No. Sometimes—most of the time—love was a storm at war.

This was never going to be just a simple love story because there is so much depth to in this story. It’s complex and original. Just when you think it’s going one way, things shift. There are twists and surprises I wasn’t expecting, and through the ups and down, I couldn’t stop myself from turning the pages to see how everything would come together. And in the end, it was perfect.

Overall, Eastern Lights is another five-star read in the Compass series and deserves its place on my favorites list. I loved loved loved it!!
