The first book in the Carmichael Family this series, this book is a great introduction to a family that I know I am going to love, and a fun friends-to-lovers/fake relationship romance with an easy, mostly angst-free love story, and I loved it.

There are six Carmichael siblings. The baby of the family and the only girl in the family, Paige, had her story told in Sweet (Landry Series, #6), this series is for her brothers, and what a fabulous bunch they are! They are close (and all actually live on the same cul-de-sac as their parents, which is a fun little addition that I love!), they are fun and playful, and constantly pranking each other, and their teasing and bickering is so freaking entertaining.

Moss is the second oldest of the group. He is a contractor who works at his parent’s house flipping business, and is teamed up with the fabulous designer/interior architect, Brooke. They are good friends who work so well together, and though there’s a bit of an attraction there, neither of them are interested in a relationship, so they’ve never bothered to do anything about it.

But suddenly Brooke needs a fake boyfriend to attend a family party with her to stick it to her cruel and judgmental mother, and to her ex-husband who is now dating her aunt (ewwww! WTF?). After her draft social media ad seeking a fake boyfriend accidentally gets posted and goes viral (awkward!), Moss offers to step in and save the day, and knowing that their close friendship would allow them to pull off the ruse easily, she takes him up on it.

Moss fake boyfriends like a champ. He’s all about the little things, is so thoughtful, and he absolutely had me swooning, and I love these two together! Their easy friendship so effortlessly translates to a fake relationship (that, from the beginning, really isn’t that fake), and with them suddenly allowed to touch and kiss, the chemistry between them finally gets a chance to spark to life, and becomes completely irresistible. It’s fun and sweet to watch the romance unfold between these two, and such an easy book to get swept up in.

“Call me tonight, you little vixen.”
“What happened to my lady?” I lift a brow as he opens a door.
“There was nothing ladylike about what just went through your head.”

There is some drama which brings the feels, and a little bit of angst as they figure it all out. It adds a nice element of emotion to the story, and of course the love story brings the feels, all of it leading to a beautiful finish for Moss and Brooke’s story.

“When I’m around you,” he says softly, his eyes never leaving mine, “I think maybe my heart can be fixed.”

I really loved this one. It’s an easy read, and I’m looking forward to reading about the rest of the brothers.

4 stars.
