4 stars!

This is such a fun read! A sweet and easy romance with great characters, fantastic banter and chemistry, and a uniquely entertaining story.

When Lilah saves the life of a “good” witch, she is given five unwanted predictions:

“Be quiet and listen: He is cheating on you. The name of your soulmate is Alistair George Arthur Lennox. You will be passed over for the promotion. The winning numbers are 5-8-12-24-39-43. And I’m very sorry to tell you this, but you will die next Sunday.”

She doesn’t believe in such things and blows it off, but then she has a near miss car accident with Alistair Lennox, illegitimate son of the King of England, her supposed soulmate. When three of the other predictions come true, she has to face up to the possibility that maybe Alistair is the man for her, especially when he keeps popping up in her life. Too bad she only has a week to live.

It’s such a fun set-up, and when Lilah fills Alistair in on the predictions (which he also dismisses as nonsense), and her need to quickly work her way through a hastily-drawn-up bucket list, he offers to help her. And so we get a series of fun and epic moments as Alistair helps her live her dreams. They form a fast friendship, they talk openly and honestly about everything, and attraction quickly blossoms. It’s natural and easy, and I love how they don’t hide anything from each other. They own it, and they just go with it as they fall for each other so unexpectedly.

There’s an element of fairy tale with this book, which gives the story a fun twist, as well as some royal encounters, some sweetly profound moments as Lilah faces her mortality, and hilarious bonding moments with Lennox’s fabulous and filterless scene-stealing mother. This book had me laughing out loud a number of times.

It’s a quick moving story, lighthearted, sexy and romantic with great dialogue, and the perfect escape read.

I loved it – 4 stars.
