I may not know much, but I am an expert in two things:
Heartbreak.
And hedonism.
I’ve been chasing escape from one bed to the next, finding distraction in all the wrong places.
Like with my roommate’s sister.
And my billionaire boss’s lover.
You could say I’m lucky in lust but very unlucky in the other L-word.
By the time I arrive in Mermaid Beach, Florida, I’ve decided I’m done with flings. I’m over chasing women I can’t have.
Until I meet Sloane Parker, the woman who has made it her mission to ruin the new Wolf Hotel.
A hotel I’m supposed to help manage, by the way. Yeah. Me, Ronan Lyle, Director of Facilities.
Don’t you dare laugh.
I don’t need another forbidden woman in my life, especially one who could derail my future.
But what I want? That’s a totally different story.
Please note: This series is intended for a mature audience.

I enjoyed this book. A spin-off from The Wolf Hotel series, this is a story for scene-stealing side character Ronan. There are references to the original series, and we do get to see Henry and Abby from those books, but you can easily read this as a standalone.
This book is split into two parts – the first, “before Abby,” where we get to meet Ronan when he’s newly single from a long-term relationship and looking for a fresh start while embracing the party-boy lifestyle with his new roommate, Connor. There’s an early dalliance/romance with Connor’s sister, Ryan, before the two boys head up to Alaska to work at the new Wolf Hotel for the summer.
Part two is “after Abby,” which picks up the story after the events of the original series. Ronan is given the opportunity of a lifetime when Henry Wolf offers him a job as Director of Facilities at the new Wolf Hotel in Mermaid Beach. It’s a job he’s unprepared for, and one of his first tasks is to resolve an ongoing issue with the hotel’s neighbour, Sloane, whose demonstrative protests against the development threaten to derail the hotel’s grand opening.
Ronan is such a great guy – sweet and relatable, and trying desperately to move on from losing the girl he loves and make the most of the huge opportunity he’s been given. Sloane comes into his life right when he’s ready to put his partying behind him and settle down a bit. She is bold and feisty, and there’s an instant attraction between them. Their opposing goals bring a bit of an enemies-to-lovers vibe, though they never actually dislike each other. It’s more of a forbidden element, with Ronan clearly told by his employers to keep his hands off Sloane, and that’s a fun twist. But they can’t stay away from each other.
The chemistry is great, and there is plenty of sexy time in this book, although the romance itself is only really hinted at, with no real emotional connection between them yet. The stage has been set, though, and I’m excited to see what’s in store for these two in the follow-up book.
This is an easy read that is fun and engaging. I was easily swept up in the story and enjoyed following Ronan’s journey. I’m diving straight into the next book.

I listened to this as an audiobook, narrated by Alex Kydd and Veronia Fox, and they do a great job. It’s an easy one to listen to while you’re going about your day.
