4 stars!

Alexandria Harrington, aka Alex, is in her late twenties and works for the House of Jazz which is slowly starting to go under. The only way to save the club is to book amazing bands which is exactly what she is doing in NYC. She also has her younger brother’s wedding to attend in the city and she doesn’t want to show up without a date now that she knows her ex will be there. She desperately needs a plan. Enter Ben Williams.

Ben is the sweet, sexy room service guy who is in the right place at the right time and Alex convinces him to play her fake boyfriend. What begins as a pretend relationship to keep her family off her back becomes so much more as Alex and Ben get to know each out. But relationships aren’t easy when you have preconceived notions of how things should be. A secret that’s revealed takes everyone by surprise and not in the best way for Alex. Quick to react she may ruin the best thing in her life.

It’s a picture perfect moment. It’s the kind of moment you show your kids in the family photo albums…
Hopefully none of those photos contain images of me glancing across the room, a long face on, mentally scrolling through all the mistakes I’ve ever made and trying to catch a glimpse of what’s probably my biggest mistake to date.

Room Service is a fun, sweet, sexy, and swoony romance revolving around a fake relationship and I loved it! It’s a quick, lighthearted read and I easily finished it in one sitting because I didn’t want to put it down.

Ben and Alex are great together.  They play the part of girlfriend/boyfriend better than expected and I loved the they just fit together. Alex is fun, awkward, and has a quirky personality. I loved the commentary in her head and all of her silliness. She is carefree but also hard working even though she comes from a wealthy family and I loved that she didn’t just take everything that was handed to her.  She really wanted to make something of herself and that made me like her even more. When Alex finds herself in a bind I loved that she is straightforward with what she needs and goes all in. Ben is delicious. He’s sweet, funny, sexy and totally swoon worthy material. He was the perfect pretend boyfriend and was a great sport with all of the spur of the moment requests. I loved that his character had depth and there was more to him than meets the eye.

From the beginning the chemistry between Alex and Ben was palpable but there is so much more than just the instant attraction they felt for one another. I love how Alex and Ben take the time to really get to know each other and enjoy spending time together. Though Alex let him into her life immediately, Ben wasn’t quick to open up so when he did it was beautiful to see the trust and honesty between them.

Overall, this was an enjoyable romantic comedy from a new-to-me author and I am looking forward to reading more from Poppy Dunne.
