5 ‘JAKE WETHERS – YOU ROCK MY WORLD’ STARS!

I was nervous going into this book. I adored The Mighty Storm, and I was so hoping that the follow up would be just as good, and OMG, Samantha Towle totally nailed it! She met my expectations and completely blew me away!

It picks up just after TMS finishes, with Jake and Tru now together, engaged, and holidaying alone on a tropical island doing what they do best *wink*, while looking forward to their life together.

Their return to LA brings to light some of the issues that they still need to sort through. Of course there are some trust issues there – especially considering how their relationship started, and all that went on in the last book, but they also need to deal with Jake’s man-whoring past.

“This place is covered in every single fuckin’ mistake I made before I got you back.”

“I don’t want to lose you because of who I used to be.”

“I swear to you, I’m not that person anymore. You have me, like no one before. You have me where it counts.” Taking my hand, he rests it over his T-shirt, over his heart. “You hold this in the palm of your hand. You are the only woman who has ever had it, and ever will. You own me, True.”

Jake Wethers – hot damn! The man is sensational! Yeah, he’s got a dark past full of drugs, alcohol and one night stands, but now he’s gotten himself together, and he has Tru, and he is so honest with her! They have issues, but they recognise them, they talk about it, and they deal with it functionally. There is one epic moment of stupid (on both of their parts… but mainly Tru) but it’s resolved really quickly, and they get on with just being together.

And Jake does all of this with so much swoon!! His romantic gestures – big and small – had me in a puddle of goo for most of this book! And Tru is right there with him – supporting him, loving him, and giving him exactly what he needs. These two are so completely in love, every little moment between them was really gorgeous.

“There isn’t anything I won’t do for you, Tru. Nothing I won’t do to make you happy. What I feel for you…it’s limitless. There is nothing before or after you. There is only you.”

And then there’s the sexy time! Wow, these two are hot! And there’s lots of it!

“I intend to make up on that time and spend the rest of the day inside you, fucking you senseless, until neither of us can walk.”
“Is that a promise?”
“You bet your sweet ass it is,” he growls.

*fans self*

There’s not THAT much of a storyline happening, and I found parts of the plot to be really predictable …

Spoiler
Especially Tru’s pregnancy. Well, duh! As soon as they had the ‘I don’t want babies’ conversation, I suspected it would happen, and then when she got sick and had to take antiobiotics – it’s like a red flashing light! But I absolutely ADORE the way that the pregnancy storyline played out. It added so much to the story, I thought it was a perfect addition, and really well done .
But I really love Towle’s writing, and I was so invested in what was happening, I was hooked from start to finish.

One of the big bonuses for this book was that we get Jake’s POV. God, I love that man! And I loved getting the chance to get inside of his head. One of my favourite scenes in the book is Jake on a night out with the TMS boys. It was hilarious! The closeness and banter between the guys, combined with Tom’s rudeness and crudeness was sensational!

“Ah fuck! My jeans keep rubbing against it. It’s hurting like a motherfucker!”
“You should learn to wear underwear, then, fuck-face,” Denny replies. Tom is in the backseat, rearranging his pants around his new tattoo.
“No fuckin’ way! I’m not caging the beast up. I might take my jeans off.” He reaches to undo them.
“Don’t you fuckin’ dare!” Denny yells. “I’m not sitting back here with you bare-assed!”
“But I’m in pain,” Tom moans.
“Tough. You are not getting your cock out while you’re back here with me.”
“Stop being ridiculous. It’s not like I’m gonna try and fuck you. Not unless you ask nicely.” He laughs.
“Can we swap seats?” Den asks me.

I really like that we got to know the band members a bit better. Stuart and the boys are a great bunch of characters, and I loved the development that we got to see with them – especially Tom. I’m excited about the prospect of a book for him, and am definitely looking forward to that!

A quick word about the feels. Oh. My. God. There’s some pretty dramatic scenes in this one, and it’s so incredibly written, I just bawled. Seriously, I totally had the ugly crying happening. I could feel everything that the characters were going through, and the emotion and the intensity of it all just shattered me! And even though you know what the outcome is going to be, and that there’s going to be a HEA (because… duh!), it still completely wrecked me. But I loved it! It was tragic, but so, so beautiful!

Samantha Towle has given us an amazing ending to Jake and Tru’s story. There is drama, happy times, sweetness, hotness, and a whole heap of swoon. Everything is wrapped up beautifully, and I finished this book with a massive grin on my face and hugging my kindle.

I absolutely loved it – 5 stars all the way.
