Blurb

I try to forget her.
It’s impossible.

Growing up together, Conor and I shared all our firsts.
First love, first kiss, first…
Not all our firsts.

We were sixteen the night she was violently assaulted while I helplessly watched.
I’ll never forget the sounds of her suffering.
Or my inconsolable agony when she left Oklahoma.

Years later, she returns to honor our teenage pact.
Except the boy she loved is gone, replaced by a ruthless cattle rancher knotted with secrets.
She doesn’t know my dark cravings or the trails of sin that lead to her.

I don’t deserve her, but one truth remains.
She’s mine.

Review

4.5 stars!

Knotted is the first book that I have read by Pam Godwin and it certainly won’t be my last. Her intense storytelling delivers an addictive read that brings on all the feels! Knotted is a story of unending love and loyalty, of conquering tragedy, learning to heal, and never giving up. Jake and Conor’s love story will break you before making you whole, and I loved it!

Jake and his twin, Jarret, grew up with Conor and her brother, Lorne, on a ranch owned by their fathers. They were best of friends and share a special bond. Jake and Conor were childhood sweethearts, and on the night they were going to give their all to each other the unthinkable happens. The assault on Conor affects not only her but the three boys, as well.

All I can do is watch. I endure every cheated moment with her, but I can’t feel her pain. Not the physical agony. I can’t take that from her. Can’t protect her from it. And I’ll never be able to return the glow of innocence to her heart. It’s been permanently stolen from her, from all four of us.

Then to add insult to injury, Conor is taken away from the only home she knows. Left feeling alone she lives her life the best she can. Then, years later she heads home to carry out the blood oath she took the night of the assault and back to the men who pushed her away.

“No matter what, we stay together. Miles, months, cities, years…” Her breath strangles. “We’re bigger than anything that tries to come between us.”

This book takes you on an extremely emotional rollercoaster. The first chapter fills with you with so much love before it rips your heart to shreds leaving you a broken sobbing mess on the floor. Only as you follow the journey of these amazing characters will you begin to heal and by the end, your heart will soar with the love and loyalty these characters’ share.

Conor was resilient and fierce. After enduring a horrific tragedy, she remained strong. She worked hard towards her dreams even when it seemed like she was alone. I felt her emotions as clear as day as if I was experiencing them. The love, the betrayal, and heartache, and the pain she suffered affected me.

Jake is intense and when he puts his mind to it he goes all in. He is a badass hero that is scary as hell to other people but so sweet and utterly swoony to Conor. He was determined to discover the truth behind the assault and lets nothing stand in his way.

I won’t walk away from this the same. But I will walk away, directly onto a warpath. I’ll take whatever road that leads to vengeance and bloodshed. Fuck the law. These fucking bastards stole something from me. Something priceless and dear. They hurt my girl from the inside out, extinguished her glow, and made her bleed.

Jake loved Conor with all of his heart and it was palpable. She was his life and when he had to witness the assault, the anger and pain consumed him. I felt his rage and his inability to make things better. He was never giving up on Conor even if his actions seemed to show the opposite. There were moments that completely frustrated me and I hated some of Jake’s decisions and actions. In a twisted way, I understood why he did what he did but I was so mad at him. He broke my heart right along with Conor’s and it took a lot to heal it.

I love second chance romances and this one was really well done. Jake and Conor’s journey was far from easy and it hurt. It hurt so much, the rawness and reality almost too much to bear. When Conor comes home she doesn’t just fall into the arms of the man who broke her heart. She makes Jake grovel and earn back her love and trust. I loved watching them together both when they were getting along as well as when they were fighting. Their banter was phenomenal and the delicious sexual tension made the reunion electric and intense. But the love was always there, even when it was hidden down deep, and I loved when they finally come together again after having years ripped from their grasps.

The bridge between us wasn’t lost. The pieces have always been here. They just needed to be fitted back together.

There is a whole lot of character growth in this book and I loved watching each character really develop from the teens they were to the men and woman they become. I loved Jake and Conor but I also really enjoyed Jarret and Lorne and are so glad to be getting their stories in the future. The beautiful love between this group of family and friends was true, strong, and unconditional.

This well written, captivating, emotionally draining, secret filled, second chance love story is everything I could have asked for in a dark romance, and I cannot wait for more! Counting down the days until Buckled, Jarret’s story, and Booted, Lorne’s story, are released!!
