Buckled throws us back into the dark world created for the Trails of Sin series. Jarret Holston is working towards righting all the wrongs that hurt his family in the past and he will do anything to protect the people he cares about. When Maybe Quinn shows up in town, he is immediately attracted to her but he can sense she is hiding something and will stop at nothing to find out what she knows. He is confident that it’s only a matter of time before she buckles.

I love this series. I fell in love with the Holston twins in Knotted and couldn’t wait to get my hands on Jarrett’s story. He is a total alpha badass who is not only hard and ruthless but so sweet and endearing. He has a heart of gold and he goes all in when it comes to love. He hasn’t found that perfect someone yet but he knows what he wants.

I’ll move mountains.

Maybe is something special. Not only is she sexy and gorgeous, she is quick witted and smart, and a total surprise. She is keeping a secret that is mysterious and every snippet revealed made me more intrigued. She is determined to get answers from the very people who refuse to talk to her and will not back down. She is strong willed and persistent and she doesn’t let people walk all over her. She knows when to push and when let things go.

When Maybe and Jarrett meet they share an instant connection they can’t deny. Their smoking hot chemistry sizzles with every look and the sexual tension is so strong from the moment they lay eyes on each other that everything that comes after is intense.

We’re a combustible vortex of acid and corrosion, gunpowder and sparks. One lit match and we’ll go up in flames.

It turns out Jarrett has met his match. Maybe is into all the kink that turns him on and he wakes something inside of her. He realizes that she is the one he’s been waiting for; however, with so many unknowns, Jarrett is aware it wouldn’t be smart to pursue Maybe yet he can’t help himself.

It’s a dangerous game, but I have to explore this. Not just the secrets she may or may not hold against me. I need to unravel whatever it is about her that makes me feel like I’m floating on goddamn sunshine.

I love Maybe and Jarret together. Their relationship is hot, heavy, and intense, and definitely not all butterflies. It’s dark and gritty and begins in an unconventional way. But they accept each other for who they are and challenge one another. I loved watching them learn to trust and finally fully give themselves to each other.

They hit some major bumps in the road that may break them but there is no way Jarrett was going to give up on Maybe and I loved that he goes all in. He is so sweet and devoted that I could help but swoon and melt into a pile on the floor while reading this book.

“It won’t end well.”
“That’s where you’re wrong.” He takes another step toward me, pausing a few feet away. “It won’t end. Period.”
“Think about what you’re saying.”
“I don’t need to think.” He pounds a fist against his chest. “I feel it.”

Buckled has the perfect mix of dark and light, and it is completely addictive. I loved the way the story progressed and watching everything unfold. It is full of strong emotions you can’t help but feel. There are secrets that change everything and truths that break hearts. This story pulled at my heart strings and made me desperate to see Jarrett and Maybe’s happiness prevail.

I also loved seeing Jake and Conor again, and I can’t wait to get more of Lorne as the Trails of Sin series continues. His story, Booted, releases September 18, 2018!
