Blurb

Forced to lie to protect her sister . . .
From the New York Times Bestselling Author, Penny Reid

One week.
Home alone.
Girl genius.
Unrepentant slacker.
Big lie.
What’s the worst that could happen?

Mona is a smart girl and figured everything out a long time ago. She had to. She didn’t have a choice. When your parents are uber-celebrities and you graduate from high school at fifteen, finish college at eighteen, and start your PhD program at nineteen, you don’t have time for distractions outside of your foci. Even fun is scheduled. Which is why Abram, her brother’s best friend, is such an irritant.

Abram is a talented guy, a supremely gifted musician, and has absolutely nothing figured out, nor does he seem to care. He does what he feels, when he feels, and—in Mona’s opinion—he makes her feel entirely too much.

Laws of Physics is the second trilogy in the Hypothesis series; Laws of Physics parts 1 (MOTION) & 2 (SPACE) end with a cliffhanger.

4.5 stars!!

Mona and Lisa are nineteen year-old twins who couldn’t be more different.  While Mona is the responsible one pursuing a PhD, Lisa is the partier who dropped out of high school, and when Lisa ends up in trouble, Mona steps in to make things right. All Mona needs to do is head home, pretend to be Lisa for a week, and fool her parent’s house sitter, Abram. What should be an easy swap (they are identical after all) becomes much more complicated when Mona gets to know Abram. She isn’t prepared for the undeniable connection they have, and as lies build, emotions grow, and lines blur, we get a fantastic start to the Laws of Physics trilogy.

Reid writes smart, feisty, quick-witted, brilliant, hilarious heroines and Mona is no exception. She’s so much more than the genius the world sees. She is an individual who isn’t afraid to be herself and doesn’t hide her intelligence. She has her life planned out, works hard to achieve her goals, and doesn’t give up easily. I liked her immediately.

Abram on the other hand is pretty much the opposite. He is a musician who dropped out of high school and doesn’t have his life together. He’s sexy, broody, and it’s clear he is smarter than people think.  He’s mysterious and intriguing, and I want to know everything there is about him. I can’t wait to get more of this delicious man.

I loved the banter between Abram and Mona. Their interactions are fun, flirty, and fantastic. The progression of their relationship is well written and entertaining. They are comfortable together and feelings grow quickly but it is believable and sweet. They have wonderful chemistry and I was waiting for them to give into the sexual tension knowing that if they did it would be electric. Unfortunately, everything they have built is based on lies, and we all know nothing good ever comes from lies.

As I neared the end my heart started racing. It was nerve wracking and suspenseful because I knew we’d be left hanging until book two. I’ll admit that my mind conjured up the absolute worst gut-wrenching cliffhanger ever, and I was so relieved when the actual cliffy was not as bad as I imagined. Still, it’s a cliffy and I am desperate to get my grabby little hands on Space because I need to see where the story is going.

Overall, Motion is an fast-paced, entertaining, addictive read. I’m hooked on Mona and Abram and I want more!

On a side note, I want to include that Abram is the brother of Marie from Dating-ish and a side character in the Elements of Chemistry trilogy. All of the little tie-ins between books make me so happy. I love all of Reid’s characters and enjoy when they pop up here and there. The characters stick with me and the more I see them, the happier I am!
