Blurb

Born into hell. Baptism by betrayal.

His life revolves around violence. My life is on the line.
I’m trapped both physically and emotionally. A pawn in a game I didn’t know I was playing.

Until I met him.

Pike acts without emotion, but I know he feels something for me.
I see it in his eyes when he looks at me. I feel it when he’s close.
I know it’s real because I feel it too.

Lust. Desire. It complicates everything.

I’m part of Pike’s plan for revenge.
What he doesn’t know is that he’s part of mine.

Like anybody else who read and loved book #1 in this duet, Pike, I dove into this book, desperate to see what was going to happen with Pike and Mickey after that nasty cliffhanger. We are thrown right back into the thick of their story, which I can’t say much about without spoiling the first book, but Frazier effortlessly recaptures the dark grittiness of life in Logan’s Beach, and the heartbreaking situation where we last saw Pike and Mickey.

“The only person who can hurt me right now, is you. It’s your fucking move, Mic. Make sure you make the right one.”

They fell hard for each other, but we left them in turmoil as Mickey continues her quest for vengeance. Pike wants to be there for his girl, but they haven’t exactly been communicating well, which leads to all sorts of misunderstandings. She has no idea where Pike’s head is at, and he’s not sure he can even trust her. Just to make it even more intense, they’re in the midst of pure evil, with the very real threat of death hanging over both of them, but they’re determined to fight for what they believe in… which is the same thing… if only they’d talk about it *sigh*. It’s angsty and frustrating, but it creates a sense of suspenseful anticipation as we wait to see if they’re ever going to get on the same page to bring down the bad guy and find their HEA.

“Sometimes what we feel can be so simple.”
“You mean like this shit between us?” Pike presses a kiss to the inside of my knee. “Because it’s complicated as fuck, but what I’m feeling right now, for you. What I want. From you.” He scrapes his teeth up the inside of my thigh. “It’s pretty fucking simple. It’s all the other shit that comes with it that’s hard.”

In the midst of all of that angst though, their chemistry is freaking explosive! The sex is passionate, hard and so intense, and a reflection of the depth of their feelings for each other, creating opportunities for them to finally be real and vulnerable with each other.

“You’re mine … You’re mine as much as I’m yours. A part of me … And I’d fucking die for you.”

But OMG, there is so much going on in this story! For the most part, it moves at a great pace, with some surprising twists and turns which I really enjoyed, but the ending of this book felt all over the place. There are more twists, more reveals, more than one WTF moment, and there’s a whole political spiel brought into it which, though timely given the state of the world at present (and very eloquently written), was just plonked into the end of the book and to me just felt like a bit of overkill. I think because the whole ending just moves so fast, there’s so much that goes on (most of it surprising) that it felt rushed, and I had to double back to make sure I’d read things right so I could figure out what the hell was happening. But the book does end well, with Pike and Mickey getting their happy ending… even if I do still have a few lingering questions.

A highlight for the book, as always, was catching up with King, and especially Preppy, both of who bring their unique presence to the story, and I loved seeing them doing what they do best.

“You know, I’ve been fighting battles and losing at every turn, and I’m so fucking sick of it. It’s time to make a few changes.”
“That’s the spirit!” Preppy cheers, slapping me on the shoulder. “A little homicide will make you feel as right as fucking rain. I’m practically a doctor. I would know.”

So, a bit of a mixed bag for me. There were some things that didn’t work, but I loved being back in this world and I was happy to see Pike and Mickey finally find their happy place together.

Mickey is in my arms and her lips are on mine. The entire fucking world could burn down, and I would die content for the first time in my life.

3 stars.

Excerpt

Pike bends me over the sink. I grip the edge to prevent falling face-first against the porcelain. I glance up at him through the mirror to where he’s standing behind me, appraising my body with fierce heat in his fiery eyes. He molds his body against mine. I close my eyes at the sensation I’ve been dreaming about feeling since the last time I saw him. I relish in his scent, his heat.

“Open your eyes, Mic,” he orders. “I want you to see this. To see us.”

My only response is a whimper. I have no words.

Only need.

As ordered, I open my eyes.

Pike grazes the back of my neck with his lips. “I want to see your reaction in the mirror as you take my cock. I want you to see mine as I give it to you. I’m not just going to fuck you. This is a message. One I want you to hear loud and fucking clear so that there will be no more misunderstandings between us.” He reaches between my legs under my skirt, cupping my pussy over my damp panties.

I push back against him with a loud groan. Pike holds me in place, pushing my panties down my legs before resuming his touch, this time against bare and soaking wet flesh.

He groans when he feels what’ waiting for him. “This belongs to me.” He wraps an arm around my shoulder, closing a hand over my throat, biting at my earlobe. His next words are both a statement and a warning, delivered while the shaft of his thick cock presses against the cleft of my ass.

“You. Belong. To. Me.”

About the Author

T.M. (Tracey Marie) Frazier never dreamed that a single person would ever read a word she wrote when she published her first book. Now, she is a five-time USA Today bestselling author and her books have been translated into numerous languages and published all around the world.

T.M. enjoys writing what she calls sexy ‘wrongside of the tracks romance’ with morally corrupt anti-heroes and ballsy heroines.

Her books have been described as raw, dark and gritty. Basically, what that means, is while some authors are great at describing a flower as it blooms, T.M. is better at describing it in the final stages of decay.

She loves meeting her readers, but if you see her at an event please don’t pinch her because she’s not ready to wake up from this amazing dream.
