4 stars!

I love this book! A fun, sexy and romantic forced proximity, fake relationship, good girl/bad boy romance full of chemistry and swoon. This is the second book in the Ward Sisters, but can stand alone, and it’s such a great read.

Claire Ward is a ‘good girl’. Smart and studious, she is the quiet one in a group of four boisterous sisters, too shy to do anything about her longtime crush on her twin sister’s best friend, Finn. But when Clare’s identical twin, Lia, begs her to take her place at a charity function, knowing the Finn will be there, Claire reluctantly agrees, thinking this may be her big chance to make a move. Except that it’s not Finn that shows up to escort her to the function, it’s his bad boy half-brother, Bauer.

Bauer is a professional snowboarder who is about as opposite from Finn as he could be. A tattooed lone wolf, he is snarky and irritable, and is considered the black sheep of his family. Claire and Bauer have never met before, but he knows instantly that this isn’t Lia, who pretty much hates him, and Claire has heard only negative things about him, and is unimpressed that he is her date for the evening. Not only that, but they need to pretend to be in a relationship. Awkward! Except that they their night is not as bad as she was expecting and they have a surprisingly good time together. So when she is asked to travel away with Bauer – as Lia, his girlfriend, she agrees.

It’s a fun set-up, made all the more exciting because of the flaming attraction that Claire and Bauer feel towards each other. It’s unexpected, and takes them both by surprise, but it’s there, sizzling beneath every encounter as they discover that despite being complete opposites, they actually get along well and they genuinely like each other. So when they get stuck in a small, isolated cabin during a snowstorm, they decide to act on all of that chemistry, and oh holy God, these two are so hot together!

“I’d give you anything you want, princess. Anything to make you smile like you are right now.”

They talk, they laugh, they share about their lives and they get naked and do just about everything they can possibly think of. It’s sizzling and intense, and they fall for each other so hard, and I was right there with them for all of it!

“You make me feel amazing just by being you, Bauer.”

But when their cabin stay is over, they have to get back to real life, and they have to face up to realities that they weren’t expecting.

I love these characters. Though they, and their lives, are very different, I could relate to what they were dealing with, and the challenges that they faced. They may have only had a short time together, but they don’t hide from what they’re feeling, and they just go with it. It’s intense, and it’s important to both of them, and I loved watching them deal with it all and figure out a way forward.

“I love you,” I told her. Simply because I couldn’t not tell her. The words just … refused to stay inside me, now that I knew what they meant.”

I loved being in this world and seeing Claire’s sisters again. I’m loving this series, and can’t wait to continue on with Lia’s book up next.

Such a gorgeous read – 4 stars!
