HOLY FUCKING HELL!!!! Best of the series so far, this book brings some MASSIVE changes to the story!

The brutal cliffy of Faefever results in what is possibly the most epic beginnings of a book EVER as badass Barrons fights to bring Mac back from the void…

Spoiler
and OMG, even though the circumstances are completely effed up, after the build-up these two have had, I relished every little moment as we get to see a side of Barrons that we have all been waiting to see.

“Open your eyes and say my name.”
I squeeze them shut more tightly.
“It would make my cock hard to hear you say my name.”
My eyes pop open. “Jericho Barrons,” I say sweetly.
He makes a pained sound. “Bloody hell, woman, I think a part of me wants to keep you this way.”
I touch his face. “I like how I am. I like how you are, too. When you are…What is that word you used? Cooperating.”
“Tell me to fuck you.”
I smile and comply. We’re back in territory I understand.
“You didn’t say my name. Say my name when you tell me to fuck you.”
“Fuck me, Jerricho Barrons.”
“From now on, you will call me Jericho Barrons every time you speak to me.”

Yes sir, Jericho Barrons!

And then there is this…

Our sex is fierce. We will both be bruised.
“I want it to always be like this,” I tell him.
“Try holding onto that thought.”
“I do not need to try. I will never feel differently.”
His laughter is as dark and cold as the place of which I dream, “One day you will wonder if it’s possible to hate me more.”

Ooooohhh, ominous!

And, of course, there is this…

“You’re leaving me, Rainbow Girl.”

OH. MY. GOD! Yes, he totally said that!!!

With Mac further evolving to become Mac 4.0, she is at her absolute best – strong, brave, and completely badass. The complete opposite of the whiny, superficial little brat she was when the series began, I freaking LOVE HER! She has been through hell, but she just picks herself up and gets on with it, determined to see her goals through to the very end.

The walls between worlds are down, the Sinsar Dubh is still on the loose, and the world is a horrifically dangerous place. Mac is a busy girl as she tries to learn more about what is happening around her, discovers more about her mysterious past, and comes to understand how altered she is after everything she has been through. All the while fighting unseelie – with and without Dani by her side – and dealing with the Sidhe-Seers, the evil LM and his hangers-on, V’lane and of course, Jericho Barrons.

I love the shift in relationships in this one. With Mac now stronger and totally badass, it brings a whole new dynamic to her interactions with those around her. And no more than with Barrons – the sexual tension between them reaches epic, epic heights as things between them are changed forever.

The ending is a complete mind-trip as Mac falls even deeper into the mysteries of fae magic, and it all ends on yet another horrific cliffy that has me praising the Book Gods that I started this series once all five of the books were out. Once again KMM rips your heart out of your chest and stomps all over it! But the story is incredible, and her writing is sensational, dragging you deeper into the amazing world that she has created, and clearly justifying why this series is one of the most-loved PNR/UF series out there.

5 sensational stars.
