5 “do you want to do something ridiculous?” stars!

Chloe was just fired from her job thanks to her ex-husband and Sawyer just sold the house he shared with his ex-fiance. Both have had a bad day and when they meet at a dog birthday party, they just click. They spend an amazing night together and then Chloe leaves. It was a nice way to “erase the day” and since Sawyer is from out of town Chloe doesn’t expect to see him again.

Chloe has a dog training business and after searching for a place for her to grow her business she finally finds a great little spot in the new Dog Tails Store. Much to Chloe’s surprise, the boss is none other than Sawyer. Surprise. They try so hard to keep things professional but they are just too good together. Their banter is awesome and entertaining. They have instant chemistry that is too hard to deny.

It was only supposed to be one night but soon it turns into two, then three, and then more…. So much more.

Chloe and Sawyer are a breath of fresh air and I adored them. They have both been burned by exes so neither are looking for anything serious. A little fun is all they want but they end up being exactly what the other needs. Sawyer takes care of Chloe in a way no one has before. She is always in control and needing to manage everything herself so the fact that Sawyer handles things for her leaves its mark on her heart. Chloe gives Sawyer the support he needs and is always there for him.

These two are hilarious together, have fun with each other, and truly care about what the other needs. They give their all even when it was supposed to be casual. They have big feels and their relationship is believable and well paced. I was rooting hard for them and was along for the ride.

I loved all the dog scenes and all their friends. It was awesome getting more of Ripley and Banks from the first book, It Seemed Like A Good Idea, and I can’t wait for the next installment, Take Me Home Tonight, featuring Bridget and Oliver. I love the Darling Springs series and am excited for more!

I have to note that I also listened to the audiobook and LOVED IT! I thoroughly enjoyed the duet narration with both narrators bringing all the characters to life. It’s my favorite kind of audiobook and love listening and reading along at the same time. It was full of emotion and entertaining from the first word to the last.

SAWYER

“Just like I remembered.”

Her shoulders shudder, and she sounds buzzed as she asks, “Yeah? What did you remember?”

“How good you taste. Your cinnamon scent. The way you melt when I kiss your neck,” I murmur against her soft skin, kissing the column of her throat now.

“It’s my lotion. It’s from Kind. All my lotions are. And bodywashes. I love them,” she says, breathless, babbling as she mentions the brand too, like I needed to know that. It’s sexy, though, the fact that she’s not thinking clearly enough to edit her thoughts. She’s just rambling as I kiss her. And it feels like a peek behind the curtain into her feminine world.

“Drives me crazy,” I say as I travel back up her neck, finding her mouth once more and sealing my lips over hers.

She claws at my shirt as I kiss her. I thread my hands through her hair. The song ends. The car’s quiet for a beat, the only sounds the rustling of clothes, the slide of our mouths, the staccato breaths.

When the next Sam Cooke tune begins, I stop pretending I’m willing to let this night end in the car. I break the kiss, run my thumb across her top lip, then nod toward her home. “What’s it going to be?”

She nibbles on the corner of her bee-stung lips. That just-been-kissed look is real good on her. “What are you offering?”

“You want me to surprise you again, Chloe?” A tremble seems to rush through her. I can hardly wait another second. “Let me come inside, sweetheart.”
