Shannon Guerin is an ordinary single mother—except for the fact that her ex-husband is the lead singer of a world famous rock band.
Shannon and Jace were childhood sweethearts. They divorced when his drug addiction destroyed their marriage, but that was years ago. Now he’s in recovery and has just come off a yearlong tour. His band are going on hiatus, which means Jace is going to be around a whole lot more for their daughter, Zara. What Shannon doesn’t know is that Jace never stopped loving her and has a secret plan to win her back.
While Shannon has tried to convince herself to move on, she’s never fully gotten over her ex. Jace is determined to prove that he deserves her trust again even though he knows it won’t come easy.
When someone begins impersonating Jace online and scamming his fans, he and Shannon grow closer in their quest to find the culprit. The bond they once shared sparks to life, but old hurts take time to heal. Jace is patient and prepared to make amends for the pain he caused in the past. He will go the distance for the one and only woman who ever captured his heart.
Rhythm is a Heartbeat is a Six of Hearts next generation novel, starring Jay and Matilda’s son, Jace. It can be read as a standalone romance.

Review
5 stars!
I closed my eyes and listened to his heart beating in time with mine because that was my favourite rhythm.
Rhythm is a Heartbeat is a spinoff of the fantastic Hearts series featuring Jace, son of Jay and Matilda from Six of Hearts. I was captivated by the love story from the very first page and it easily is a new favorite second chance romance.
Jace and Shannon met when they were pre-teens and formed a fast friendship, and as they grew older, they grew closer. They fell in love, got married, and had a child. Things were wonderful for a time; however, Jace spiralled after a heartbreaking tragedy and turned to drugs to cope, and ultimately the end of the relationship ended when Shannon could take no more.
Shannon is still very close with Jace’s family who support her completely and Jace has a great relationship with his daughter but Shannon doesn’t really want to see Jace when he’s in town because the hurt of the past is still too fresh in her mind. Now that Jace’s tour is over, things are going to change. Jace is staying in town and he is ready to make things right. His addiction ruined everything he cared about but now he’s back, sober, and knows what he wants.
Jace wants to win Shannon back. He wants his family together again and is ready to do anything to prove that he can be the man she deserves. Shannon is more reserved. Her heart was broken and she doesn’t want to be let down again but Jace doesn’t make staying away from him easy.
The pent up sexual tension that builds every time Jace and Shannon are together creates a delicious slow burn romance. Jace is determined to show Shannon who he is today and that he is never going back to the way he was when things fell apart. I love that Jace is all in and you know that even though Shannon fights the pull that has been there from the beginning, these two are going to light the pages on fire when they finally get together.
The progression of their relationship and the pacing of the story is believable and well done. There is no drama for the sake of drama and everything they face was realistic and understandable. The character growth, individually as well as when they are a couple, was wonderful, and there was beautiful healing involved for both Jace and Shannon.
There is also a mystery laced through the story and I thought it was well thought out. I was curious who was causing the trouble and liked the turns the story took.
I loved the secondary characters. Meeting Zara warmed my heart and seeing Jay and Matilda again, as well as Jack and Lille was just perfect. I really enjoyed this story and definitely crave more from this group of characters.
