Hart’s Landing is a delightful small town romance that brings all the feels and puts a smile on your face. With loveable characters, an entertaining storyline, emotional healing, and steamy moments, this story earned a place on my faves list.
Mila Ferguson left Hart’s Landing ten years ago after the night that was supposed to change everything did, only not in the way she wanted. That night she was supposed to finally kiss her long-time crush and see what the future could hold for them. Though she got her kiss, she also got a whole lot of trouble when she was blamed for a fire at the bakery while she was distracted by her crush. Guilt plagued her and she left and went to New York City.
Mila hasn’t visited Hart’s Landing since the incident but she’s called home to take care of her mother while she recovers from a double hip replacement. She has a plan while she’s back – she wants to get through the six weeks and get back to NYC before the past rears its ugly head again. Plans have a way of changing when you least expect them, especially when her crush seems to be everywhere she is.
To Everett, Mila is the one that got away. He thought that night in the bakery would be the start to something, however, after the fire, chaos and pain consumed his family and when he came up for air, Mila was gone. He never thought he would get another chance with her but when she comes back to town, he knows he won’t let her go without a fight.
I absolutely adored Mila and Everett. Though Mila came to town to care for her mom, she has a lot of healing to do for herself so dating is off the table. Everett respects her decision but oh my gosh, these two belong together. Everett is such a sweetheart. He listens to her, supports her, and is always thinking of what she needs. He is in her corner even when he thinks nothing will happen between them. He’s a great guy who always puts her first and tries so hard to have her see herself the way he does, deserving of so much love.
They have fantastic chemistry and sizzling sexual tension whenever they are together. They try to be just friends but they can’t deny their attraction, and when they finally get together, they light the pages on fire.
I love that this story introduces us to characters who mean so much to Mila and Everett, and it sets us up for more stories in the future featuring these friends. The night that changed everything for Mila back when she was eighteen also changed her friends. The mystery of the fire is included in the story but I also want to know what her three other friends did that same night. Each had something they were to do in honor of their friend who passed away and I want to know what each went through. I love that Mila reconnected with Gabi and Yasmine but I want to know what happened to Rachel. I cannot wait for more!!
