Synopsis

We met on a Tuesday.
Became best friends, then lovers, on a Tuesday.
And everything fell apart on a Tuesday….

Charlotte Taylor has three automatic strikes in my book: 1) She hates me. She also claims that I’m a “domineering jerk with a huge, overbearing ego”. (I do have something huge. It’s not my ego, though.) 2) She takes our mandatory tutoring sessions way too seriously. 3) She’s sexy as hell…and a virgin.

At least those were her strikes before our study sessions started lasting longer than they were supposed to. Until one innocent kiss became a hundred dirty ones, and until she became the first woman I ever fell hard for.

Our future together after graduation was supposed to be set:

Professional football for me. Law school for her.

But she left me at the end of the semester with no explanation, and then she completely disappeared from my life.

Until tonight.

We met on a Tuesday.
Became everything, then nothing, on a Tuesday.
And now it’s seven years later, on a Tuesday….

This is a full-length second-chance romance, inspired by Adele’s “When We Were Young”.

I love this book! A fun and emotional romance between an NFL superstar and the one who got away, this book is both a fun and flirty NA romance, and a gorgeous second-chance romance, and all of it is just gold! It made me laugh, it made me swoon, and I fell in mad love with Grayson Connors, one of the most persistent, dedicated romance heroes I’ve read for a while. This is such a great read, and I loved it!

Grayson Connors should be on top of the world. He’s just won MVP as the quarterback in a winning superbowl for the second year running, and he can get anything and anyone he wants with the mere click of his fingers. But though he’s supposedly living his dream, something is missing. His life hasn’t been right since his first love and college sweetheart up and left him without a word seven years previously. So, when he receives an invite to his college reunion and he knows that she will be there, he sees it as the chance to see her again and finally get the answers he so desperately needs.

To this day, I’d never loved anyone the way I loved her. Hell, I honestly hadn’t “loved” anyone since her because no other woman ever compared, and it still made me angry whenever I remembered that she never had the decency to give me damn goodbye.

Moving between the past and the present, we get to see Grayson and Charlotte meet in college, back when he was a rising football star destined for great things, the campus golden boy and noted playboy. Charlotte is studious and quiet, completely focussed on getting her double major instead of experiencing the college social scene. When the two of them are paired up so Charlotte can tutor Grayson, he has finally meets his match. Not only does he find her smart, witty, and absolutely beautiful, but he’s used to having women falling at his feet but Charlotte seems completely unimpressed with him, wanting nothing to do with him or his reputation. He’s never had to work for it before, but he knows that she’s worth it so he commits to his goal. I could understand Charlotte’s hesitance, but even she is helpless against his charm, and so we get a slow burning, flirty enemies-to-friends-to-lovers story that is sweet, sexy, and so much fun!

“We both know I’m not going to stop pursuing you, so even if I leave today, I’ll be right back here tomorrow.”

With how perfect these two are for each other, I kept wondering how it all fell apart for them, but it all becomes clear as the story plays out and it tugged at my heartstrings as we get to feel it all right alongside them. And then those feels are all still very much there in the spine-tingling moments of their reconnection in the present.

All these years and he still had the ability to make my world stop with a single syllable. To make my heart race with a single glance in my direction.

I loved the second-chance-romance portion of the story as once again Grayson pours his heart out to his girl in an effort to win her back. I love him so much! I fell for his charm as a cocky senior and his commitment to winning Charlotte over when they first met, and in the present we see how torn up he is over their split all those years ago, and again his dedication to Charlotte even after their long separation back absolutely melted my heart.

“We’ve lost seven years of each other,” he said, looking right into my eyes. “Is it too late for a second chance?”

This is a really quick read, but the pacing is spot on. I would have loved to have seen a bit more post-resolution, but overall I was happy with where it ended, and I’m so freaking excited to know that Grayson’s best friend, Kyle, will be getting his own book, On a Wednesday.

I listened to this as an audiobook and I loved the narration! Joseph Discher and Erin Mallon do a fantastic job in bringing this story to life, and I definitely recommend listening to if you get the chance!

Such a great read, I really enjoyed it!
