Sleeping with your client is bad, but what I did is even worse.
When I’m sent to Ember Falls to handle a PR nightmare, I have no idea I am creating a crisis of my own. Killian Thorn is everything I know to resist—older, rugged and handsome with mesmerizing green eyes and a wicked smile—which is why instead of running from him, I end up in his bed.
Forced to work together, our stolen kisses are the least of our worries because the scandal on Killian’s ranch continues to grow.
My job is to fix the issue, but our secret is only making it worse.
My best friend convinces me that being with my client isn’t really such a faux pas. In fact, she thinks I should go for it since I’ve always guarded my heart.
Trouble is, neither of us realize we’re talking about her dad.

This is such a gorgeous read! A steamy, chemistry-filled, age-gap, close proximity, forbidden romance with fabulous twists and the most beautiful love story, I adored every moment of this book.
Tessa is a publicist who gets the chance of her career when she is sent to Ember Falls to manage a crisis for one of her company’s biggest clients.. On her first night in town, she heads to the local bar and meets a devastatingly attractive older man. Sparks fly instantly, lust takes over, and they share a night together that changes everything. It’s not until the morning after that they learn that Killian is the very client she is sent to help. Her work has a strict no-fraternisation policy, so they agree to put their night behind them and keep things professional. But when Tessa ends up staying at Killian’s house for the duration of her stay in town, they are tested in ways they never could have anticipated.
It’s a great set-up, and it works so well because the chemistry between these two is sizzling! You can feel it in every glance and every interaction, and their longing for each other is so brilliantly written. I could feel it, and I was desperate for these two to find a way to be together. And when it comes, it’s everything!
“Tessa,” he groans against my neck as he moves his lips against my skin, lightly kissing and then sucking. “Tell me you want this.”
“I need this,” I admit.
“I can’t… fuck… I want you more than anything.”
I love these characters, they are so perfect together, and it’s so easy. Despite their age gap (she’s 26, he’s 44), they get each other. They talk, they laugh, they share, and their emotional and physical connection feels effortless and real. But their relationship has an expiration date, it has to stay secret, and on top of all that, there’s a mystery swirling around Killian’s business troubles and the disappearance of his partner. And while all of that is going on, the tension and yearning for more is absolutely delicious.
I tighten my grip, holding her close, wishing we could have more, have everything.
Tessa makes me feel more than I’ve ever felt before. She makes me want things that I haven’t thought about in forever.
Forever.
That word.
That promise of things I can’t have because this is all we’ll have.
The romance is perfectly balanced with the external drama, and I was fully swept up in their whirlwind connection. But their biggest hurdle is yet to come with the reveal that Killian is the newly-identified father of Tessa’s best friend. It’s a devastating twist and changes their dynamic, taking ‘forbidden’ to a whole new level.
“I wish this could be my life … “I hate that it’s not.”
… “It could be. You just have to want to fight for it.”
From there, the story delivers emotional punches, big reveals, and plenty of heart, and through it all, Killian and Tessa’s love shines. They’re honest, functional, and they want to give each other the world, and I loved watching them deal with the problems they’re faced with and find they happy ever after.
I love her.
No matter how hard I fought against it, I fucking love her. I would do anything for her … Letting her go isn’t an option.
This is the fourth and final book in the Ember Falls series, there is, of course, character crossover, but you could read this one as a standalone – just be aware that the couples of the previous books feature (shout out to the Disc Jocks and their bro friendship). And if you’re a fan of Corinne’s there’s even a fabulous throwback cameo from none other than my beloved Liam from The Consolation Duet, which actually had me squeeing out loud.
This is a really special read with the most beautiful couple, and an epilogue that left me grinning like an idiot. I loved everything about this one.
5 huge stars!
