The second part of the Wolf Hotel Mermaid Beach series, this is the conclusion to Ronan and Sloane’s story, and a satisfying finish for Ronan as he finally gets his happy ending.

This book picks up immediately where the first one left off, so you must have read Release Me before diving into this one.

Ronan is rocking his new job as the Director of Facilities at the new Wolf Hotel in Mermaid Beach. But he’s fallen hopelessly for Sloane, who vehemently opposes the hotel and has made herself Henry Wolf’s enemy in the process. With Henry coming to town for the grand opening, and with secret plans in place to destroy everything that Sloane cherishes, Ronan finds himself caught between his boss and the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity he’s been given, and the woman he’s so quickly fallen for.

”I’m only protecting what’s mine.”

This is a quick and easy read that was enjoyable and kept me invested, but I didn’t feel much. The romance doesn’t really feel like the focus, it’s more like it’s happening in the background of the hotel battle and Sloane’s drama. There are steamy scenes, of course, and feelings are clearly developing, but it wasn’t the kind of love story that I like to lose myself in. We didn’t even get an “I love you”.

As a spin-off from the Wolf Hotel series, we get to see a fair bit of Henry and Abbi, which I liked, but I did find the Ronan/Abbi dynamic a little weird. Their closeness feels a bit ‘off’ at times. And I didn’t like that Henry was made out to be the villain, even if it does give Ronan a chance to be the hero and save the day.

I did like this book, it just didn’t suck me in or bring the romance that I was expecting. Still, it was a good read, and I liked seeing Ronan finally get his happy ending.

I listened to this as an audiobook, and like the first book in the series, it’s narrated by Alex Kydd and Veronica Fox. They do a great job, and I enjoyed listening to this one.
