Blurb

First, hate. Then, want. But in the end? Heartbreak.

My celebrity life was supposed to be easy, and this movie was the biggest break of my career. But from the moment Officer Levi Fox gave me a speeding ticket on my way into town, he’s been nothing but a thorn in my side.

Dominant. Cocky. Callous.
Midnight blue eyes, a bad attitude, and muscles for days, he’s exactly the kind of man I should avoid.

But as the Cold, Montana Police Department’s official movie liaison, he’s taken up a permanent place in my life that I can’t shake.

We fight. A lot.

Then, we kiss—and my carefully crafted hate toward him no longer feels so much like hate.

I’m falling
falling
falling.
But how often do alpha-jerks cushion the landing?

Note: Levi and Ivy’s story will continue in Book Two—Cold.

Review

4.5 stars!

Talk about a wild ride and this is just the beginning. It’s a fast-paced, addictive read that will captivate you from the first page and leave you desperate for more. Intriguing, emotional, heartbreaking, and angsty, I could not put this book down and stayed up way too late to finish it but I can’t regret the lack of sleep because it is just so good!

Over five years ago there was a serial killer who murdered five young women in Cold, Montana. Everyone was affected and years later it still haunts them, especially Officer Levi Fox. When actress Ivy Stone rolls into town to play Detective Grace Murphy in the new movie about the murders Levi is less than thrilled especially because he is the official movie liaison. Ivy wants to do her best and Levi is hell-bent on making it impossible all while trying their hardest to keep their hands off of each other.

This book is so much different than the typical romantic comedies Max Monroe gives us and I loved it. It is deeper, darker, and more mysterious. Combine a broody, broken hero, a sweet, sassy heroine, an engrossing storyline, and way more angst than I was anticipating and I am hooked.

I adored Ivy! I love that she sets her mind to be the best actress she can be and is determined to learn what she can about the role she is playing. She cares about the movie and is committed to portraying Grace in the truest way possible. She is sweet, sexy, and feisty, with a beautiful heart, and I felt all the emotions she experiences since arriving in Cold. She is real, imperfect, and vulnerable, and I loved her from the start.

Then there is Levi. He is intriguing and a mystery. We don’t know much about his past or his involvement with the case and we are left questioning everything about him. He took a little while to warm up to but he’s been through so much and my heart hurt for him. The memories, regret, and pain he shoulders seem overbearing and I just want to know what happened.

“I feel like I’m living in the seventh circle of hell,” he muttered more to himself than me, the physical contact between us the sole focus of his contemplation. “Like I’m in the middle of a nightmare I can’t fucking wake up from.”

From the beginning, there is a connection between Levi and Ivy that is undeniable. They fight it and Levi outright refuses to acknowledge it but it is definitely there. The tension surrounds them and they affect each other more than they could have imagined.

After Grace, all I wanted was to stay numb.
But Ivy seemed hell-bent on making me feel too fucking much.

I could feel their chemistry and although this book is not as steamy as I expected, there are definitely moments that heat up the pages and give you just enough to make you crave more.

As the ending neared I knew we were moving towards a cliffhanger of some sort since we have two more books in the Stone Cold Fox Trilogy. The anticipation of what was to come made me a nervous mess. The last 25% of the books had me simultaneously crushed and fuming. I could see the train wreck that was coming and I wanted to scream for things to stop. When the last few pages played out I wanted to throw my kindle across the room, I was so mad! The ending was heartbreaking and I wanted to cry for everyone involved. I can officially say that I am invested in this trilogy and I cannot wait for Cold!
