4 stars!

This was a really great read. An angsty and enjoyable enemies-to-lovers romance with a twist of mystery/suspense, and a gorgeous, heartfelt romance.

Daisy has just been released after spending 18 months in prison for a crime she didn’t commit, and following a heartless betrayal by her boyfriend. Now she’s out and determined to get her life back, starting with regaining custody of her younger brother, Jesse. In order to do so, she needs a job, and when her Parole Officer offers her a position as a maid at a country estate, she willingly accepts.

On her first day there she meets Kastor Matis. The son of the owners, manager of the estate and her new boss. And he’s an asshole to her (or, as Daisy likes to put it, a “Kas-hole”). He is mean and disrespectful and treats her terribly, but having little other option, Daisy puts up with it. What makes it worse is that he’s absolutely gorgeous and she can’t help but be attracted to him. And when Kas starts to show an attraction to her, Daisy is even more confused, especially with him running so hot and cold all the time. It’s clear he has secrets, and there is a lot of depth to him just waiting to be explored, and as they grow closer, Daisy begins to see a different side to Kas and things take a romantic turn.

“You’ve made me feel again, Daisy,” he murmurs, surprising me. I shift back and stare at his face. His eyes are still closed. Then, he lets out a shallow breath. “You’ve made me feel…and I fucking hate that.”

Daisy and Kas’ love story is so gorgeous. From their heated arguments to sweet moments, banter, flirting and teasing and their sizzling passion for each other, I could feel each little shift in their relationship. There is some angst, but it’s a pivotal part of the story as they battle with everything that is happening, and as Kas truly begins to open up to Daisy, everything becomes clear, and OMG, my heart! What a tragic backstory, my heart ached for Kas, and it made everything between them so much more intense.

“What I feel for you is debilitating and terrifying and exhilarating…and the best thing to ever happen to me. You are the best thing to ever happen to me. And, if you only ever believe one thing I’ve told you, then believe this; if I could love someone, then it would be you, Daisy. A million times over, it would be you.”

But Kas is still keeping secrets. And having been betrayed in love before, Daisy has no intention of sitting back and waiting for the bad stuff to come at her. But what she disocvers will rock her world once again, and change everything between them forever.

I really enjoyed this book. It’s well thought out and really well written. Daisy could have easily become an annoying heroine, but instead she is smart, sweet and relatable. I could understand her actions and thought processes, and I really liked. And as much as I love a dual POV book, I love that the story is told entirely from her perspective. It allows Kas to remain a mystery, which is exactly what the story needs, and I enjoyed the suspense part of the book, and the twists and turns, and that wholly unexpected ending.

Another great read from Samantha Towle, I loved it.

4 stars.
