Consequence, the conclusion to Sayer and Caroline’s epic love story…

Five years ago, I escaped a dangerous life I had always wanted to leave. I got away. I found freedom. But it cost me the love of my life.

For five years I lived in hiding, protecting my most valuable secret while Sayer Wesley sat in prison paying for both our sins. I promised to love him forever. I promised to never leave him.

I broke my promises.

Five months ago Sayer found me.

Five weeks ago, I was forced to face my past.

Five days ago, someone took my daughter. They kidnapped her in order to make Sayer and me suffer. I will do anything to get her back. Even if that means coming clean to Sayer, letting him into my life and introducing him to our daughter.

All I wanted was to protect her from this life and now she’s right in the middle of the chaos. Sayer is the only one that can help me. He’s the only one that can get her back.

But it might mean losing him again.

Fifteen years ago, I fell in love with Sayer Wesley. Now I must pay the consequences for falling in love with a con man.

4.5 stars!

Consequence, the conclusion to The Confidence Game series, is here! Everything is in chaos after the shocking cliffhanger from Constant, and the mystery, suspense, action, and romance that grabbed me from the first book is back in full force. To get to Juliet, Caroline and Sayer must join forces and go back to where it all started. Back to a place Caroline swore she would never see again. Can Sayer and Caroline put the past behind them to save their daughter and secure a future together when the past is the one thing that can tear them apart?

I won’t go into too much detail because I don’t want to spoil anything but Consequence is everything I could have asked for. I loved this book! It’s captivating and addictive, and I couldn’t put it down. Everything about the storyline, the characters, the romance, and the suspense was entertaining.

Caroline is a mess after the events at the end of Constant.  I understood all of the jumbled emotions coursing through her. I felt the fear, frustration, anger, pain, and confusion, and it made me hurt right along with her. She is brave and strong, though, and is determined to get to Juliet. She doesn’t give up and shows how awesome she can be.

I also felt Caroline’s conflict when it came to Sayer. Her unyielding love frustrates her because of the heartbreak she experienced but there is no denying that she loves him with everything she is and letting that love go was never an option.

I melted into him, unable to resist the electrifying sensation that sparked to life between us. This wasn’t just nostalgic youth coaxing me into a false sense of familiar. This was the entire reason I fell in love with Sayer to begin with. Because he was addicting. Because I had never been able to stay away from him. Because this kiss alone was enough to completely undo me.

Sayer is amazing and in my opinion, the star of the book. He is so much more complex than you could imagine. His past was heartbreaking and he worked hard to escape the streets and make something of his life. He is loyal to the ones he loves and would do anything for them. He is confident and strong but the reality of situation he is thrown into exposes his fears and vulnerabilities. He is real, doesn’t pretend to be perfect, and owns his decisions and actions. Even though he has a hard edge to him and is a total badass, he is sweet and a romantic at heart. I loved his strong conviction that Caroline was the girl for him.

Caroline Valero has saved my life the first day I met her…And I just knew that if she was my girl, she would be the one that saved my soul too, saved me from myself and the man I could become if I let the brotherhood twist me with evil deeds and darkness.

Sayer is so swoony and his words will make your heart skip a beat. I felt his determination to keep Caroline and Juliet safe and his willingness to bring hell to the doorsteps of the enemies that threaten them. His love is true and fierce, and I wholeheartedly believe it.

“If I’ve fought hard for anything, it’s been you. If I’ve wanted anything at all, it’s been you. If I’ve loved anything in this life of mine, it hasn’t been the brotherhood or the bratva or thieving, it’s been you. It’s always been you, Caro. From the day I met you till the day I die.”

*SWOON* I love Sayer!

From the beginning Caroline and Sayer shared an intense connection that time and circumstance could not sever. Facing the nightmare forced upon them, their emotions are at an all-time high and I couldn’t help but feel them too. The conflicting feelings towards one another mixed with the fierce love that still remains makes for an angsty, charged, and all-consuming relationship. The push and pull between Caroline and Sayer is just as intense as before, the sexual tension is off the charts, and their chemistry is sizzling. There is more heat in this book than the previous one.

However, after the betrayal and hurt they experience at the hands of the other, trust doesn’t come easily to them. They have much to work through and their relationship is realistic as they navigate their current situation and feelings. Despite their past, it’s clear that Sayer and Caroline are meant to be, and together they are an unstoppable force.

Sayer was mine. And I was his. And this family of ours was the beginning and the end of everything for us. The risk, the danger, the game…all of it was worth it to keep us together.

On top of rekindling a love that never died, Sayer and Caroline have to deal with the Russian mafia. Threats, murder, pain, and suffering are the way of life for the bratva and Caroline swore she would never return to them. When forced back to DC we are hit with an onslaught of feels. There is uncertainty when it comes to the enemy and what will happen when hell breaks loose. It’s suspenseful, nail-biting, and scary.

There are so many secrets throughout this story that leave you questioning what really happened until the very end. I loved getting into Sayer’s head and seeing how the story unfolded through the flashbacks. The twists and turns this story takes are exhilarating, and when a jaw dropping truth is revealed, you won’t be able to contain your emotions. They will be all over the place after being in both their heads.

I was so excited to jump back in to Caroline and Sayer’s story because I needed them to find their HEA and Consequence did not disappoint. The mystery and suspense were on point. The romance was beautiful, and the story was exciting and addictive. Overall, I loved it and I want more!! More Frankie, more Gus, and even more Mason. And of course, I want to see more of Caroline, Sayer, and Juliet and what the future has in store for them.
