Blurb

He’s the hottest player in Major League Baseball, the most notorious playboy in all of Manhattan…

And my fake fiancé for the next three months.

I was drunk-dialing my ex the night I met him.

Six-three, sexy as sin and so incredibly rude I could smack the asshole smirk right off his face. Long story short, we got off to a bad start. But when the tabloids interpret our sparring as Drew Maddox “groveling” with a “mystery brunette,” his agent presents us both a proposal:

Shacking up as a couple this summer.

It’s an alleged “win-win.” I need to prove to my ex that I’m fine. Drew needs to prove to his team that he’s stable. Thanks to his on-field brawling and never-ending lady drama, Drew Maddox has suddenly found himself on the trade block – which means he needs a fast, easy way to show the team that he’s settled down.

Hence this fiancé thing.

Our fights are real, our kisses are fake, and thanks to the nonstop heat between us, I’m starting to mix up all my signs. But whether it’s real or fake, there’s one thing I do know:

I’m already addicted.

Review

5 stars!

For seventeen years Evie and her fiancé Mike were everything to each other. Best friends to lovers, Evie was getting the HEA she has always wanted. Then, out of the blue Mike says he needs time, crushing Evie’s heart. Caught between holding on to hope and realizing they may truly be over, she is a mess.

Overhearing a gorgeous girl leaving a crazy voice message to her ex, Drew can’t help but interupt. Immediately, Drew rubs Evie the wrong way and she wants nothing to do with him even though she knows exactly who he is. Drew is one of the highest paid pitchers in the league but this bad boy is getting into too much trouble lately. Clean up his act or get traded, Drew finally has the incentive to fix his “hothead reputation.” First step is appearance and a fake fiancé is just what he needs. After a newspaper speculates that Evie and Drew are an item, she is the perfect person to fill the role. As they pretend to love each other on the outside, an entertaining and unexpected romance begins to form on the inside.

I loved everything about Hothead. Containing one of my favorite tropes, fake relationships, this story had everything I wanted. Full of humor, heart, and so much heat you’ll be fanning yourself, I could not put this book down as Drew and Evie’s fake love turns to real love. From the storyline to the characters, I was invested from the get go.

Evie is sweet, witty, and relatable. I loved her optimism and desire to be more than what was expected of her. Trying to make sense of the bomb her fiancé dropped, she is heartbroken, and I wanted nothing more than to console her. Her emotions were well written especially regarding her confusion and hurt towards Mike as well as her brewing feelings for Drew.

Drew is sexy, confident, and a huge deal in baseball. I love that he speaks his mind and goes after what he wants. He is sex on a stick and totally cocky, and I loved it.

“You really think that because you don’t know me personally, I wouldn’t be able to give you the best orgasm of your life right here, right now?…Baby girl, I could make you come so hard you’d forget his name.”

However, there was so much more to Drew than meets the eye. When Drew enters Evie’s life they couldn’t have known what they would end up meaning to each other. I knew he was something special and I loved watching him with Evie. He lights her up and makes her feel things she hasn’t felt in so long while she helps him open up and learn to trust again.

I could feel all the good in her soul. I felt the warmth of it seeping into mine, filling in every chip and crack I’d sustained from every instance of hurt in my past.

Drew and Evie are sensational together. Both very different but no less likable in their own way, I was rooting for them as a couple. Phenomenal banter, insane chemistry, and off the charts sexual tension as they try to keep their hands off of each other make this an addictive read. The sexy time is smoking hot and the sweet stuff will make you swoon!

I adored Drew and Evie and loved following the progression of their relationship. From enemies to lovers, their fake relationship turns real in a believable way, and I loved every bit of it.

I hadn’t known her for even a month, but somehow it felt like I’d waited years to feel exactly this.

With the exception of a few hiccups, there was no stupidity between them which was refreshing. The little bit of drama thrown into the story was nice but I am glad there wasn’t drama added for the sake of drama. The story had depth and it wasn’t all rainbows and butterflies; I loved the challenges Drew and Evie face and the way they work through them. There are twists that surprised me and kept me engrossed the whole time. I was thrilled with the way things turned out and enjoyed the sweet epilogue that put a permanent smile on my face. Definitely a new favorite of mine!

“My world’s just better with you in it, and I don’t want to go back to how it was before you came, Evie. I love you. I love you too much to let you go.”

About the Author

Stella Rhys is an author of contemporary romance and can’t help but write it hot, steamy and borderline filthy (just kidding, it’s just flat-out filthy). Writing aside, she lives for coffee, the Knicks, the Yankees and cooking recipes way out of her league. She was born and raised in New York and now lives there with her husband and charmingly entitled fur babies.
