3.5 sweet and sexy stars

This is the third book in the Fusion series and though it’s been a while since I read the last book in this series, I was swept right back to life at sensual restaurant, Seduction, and the five best friends who run it, this time getting story of ball-busting bar manager, Katrina.

Kat is flying to a wine-tasting event in Napa Valley when she meets Mac. It’s her first time on a plane and she’s absolutely terrified, but her gorgeous seatmate is there for her, literally holding her hand and keeping her calm through her ordeal. She’s thrilled to finally get to her destination, and even more thrilled when she realises that Mac is there for the same event. And with their attraction sizzling, she proposes that they enjoy a string-free “sexcation”. Mac is feeling the chemistry just as much as Kat is. He is intrigued by the feisty beauty and not looking for a relationship, so he agrees to her proposition and the two of them proceed to rock each other’s worlds for their time away.

The man can fuck like nobody’s business, bless him.

When Kat returns home, she is back into her normal routine when none other than Mac walks in to her bar. Figuring that they had a good thing going, they jump back into their arrangement, unable to keep their hands off each other. With neither of them looking for, or wanting, a relationship, they are surprised by how in tune they are with each other, and neither of them expected to begin developing true feelings for each other. But there’s no game playing or stupid behaviour, they just go with it, taking things as they come, and we get to see every moment of their fall into something so much more than either of them ever realised that they wanted.

“Just because you’re breathing doesn’t mean you’re alive. You’ve made me feel alive.”

Being a long-time fan of Ms Proby, I knew exactly what to expect going into this book, and I got it – sweet, easy, fun and functional romance with lots of heart and a serious amount of steam. Kat and Mac are great characters, I loved Kat’s strength and honesty, and Mac is pure romance hero perfection with just the right blend of dirty-talking alpha sex god and big hearted sweetheart. Together, they are fantastic, and I enjoyed watching everything develop between them.

“I’m falling for you, Katrina,” I murmur against her lips. Her eyes open in surprise, and just when I expect her to say something along the lines of this is moving so fast, she does what she always does.
She surprises me.
“It’s about time you caught up,”

I loved seeing all the girls together, especially with the addition of husbands to the mix. Proby writes great character dynamics, and this one had some truly gold moments. There’s a bit of drama thrown in, but it’s external to the relationship and brings a bit of intensity to the story, and I thought it worked really well.

I really enjoyed this one, and am excited for Riley and Mia’s stories to come!

3.5 stars.
