This is my first book by Louise Bay, a sweet, sexy friends to lovers romance that is an easy, enjoyable read.

Truly and Noah met when her sister married his best friend. Noah made his move that very night and – in a first for the playboy – Truly knocked him back. But they became good friends and stayed close right up until Noah left London for New York and they lost touch. Now, Noah is back in London, a self-made millionaire looking for a new challenge and he’s there right when Truly is forced into becoming the public face of her family’s charity, and who better to help her along the way?

Truly is a self-declared nerdy introvert who prefers spreadsheets over publicity, and pyjamas and takeaway rather than the glitzy nights out. The last thing she wants is to be the person in the spotlight and making speeches when it comes to her work. But Noah insists on guiding her through it all, bringing a bit of a business/Cinderella feel to the story as Truly learns how to really shine, and the whole thing is lots of fun.

And then there’s the chemistry. Truly and Noah have always been attracted to each other but Truly knows his reputation as a player and she knows that he has the potential to break her heart. It’s best to keep things strictly platonic between them… but that doesn’t mean they can’t have a little fun. Noah is all in when Truly suggests becoming friends with benefits, knowing that this is his chance to convince her that he’s not the manwhore that she believes him to be, and that he really does have feelings for her.

It’s steamy and it’s sweet, and I really enjoyed the soul searching that goes on as Truly and Noah find themselves in unfamiliar situations both professionally and personally. There’s a nice amount of character development as they figure out what they want and where they belong, but when their hearts are on the line, will these two best friends be able to find common ground when it comes to love?

This is a cute read. Steamy and sweet, I loved the friendship between Truly and Noah, I loved how they found their way forward together professionally, and I liked the slow burn of the romance. I did get annoyed at Truly and questioned some of her decisions, but by that point Noah had completely won me over and I was just hanging out waiting for him to finally get his girl.

I listened to this as an audiobook, narrated by Saskia Maarleveld and Shane East, and they do a fantastic job bringing the story to life. Definitely a great one to listen to.

3.5 stars.
