I was issued a warning: stay away from Ben Rosenberg.

As Clifton Cove’s resident “king”, he thinks he’s entitled to anyone and anything.

The trouble is, I’ve spent my whole life following the rules and playing it safe. I know what it feels like to be the good girl. I’m the police chief’s daughter and a librarian—for adorable children, no less. My wardrobe consists of colorful sundresses and baggy jeans. I might as well have a Post-it stuck to my forehead that reads: Yup, she’s a virgin.

An all-nighter with a fictional hunk is about as exciting as my life gets, until one day, fate decides to take pity on me and shove me straight into the path of Mr. Off-Limits himself.

Oof.

Just as I suspected, every inch of him promises to be my demise. Up close, he’s tall, menacing, dangerously handsome—the type of man who’s never spent a single moment worrying about the opinions of others. A well-behaved girl would do as she’s told and avoid him at all costs, but I’m overdue for a little rebellion.

No more Friday nights sprawled out on the couch in my comfiest pajamas. No more wishing I had the courage to misbehave.

Everyone thinks Ben is going to ruin me.
They think he’ll chew me up and spit me out.

Well, Ben…go ahead.
Tempt me. Taunt me.
Make me bad.

4.5 stars!!

As the daughter of the town police chief, Madison is supposed to stay away from “bad boys” so Ben, known for his bad boy tendencies, is off limits. It doesn’t help that her brother Colton, also a police officer, hates Ben too. Little do they know, Madison is sick and tired of being a good girl. Being a little bad is what she’s after and Ben may just be the right guy for the job.

”I want you to help me change.”
“Change?” His gaze drops to my dress like I mean it in the literal sense rather than the figurative. “How?”

“I want you to, y’know…help make me…
different.”
“Different?”
Right, yes. What does different mean? I’ve spent my entire life in this exact role: the good girl. The rule-follower. The curfew-keeper.
“I want you to help make me bad.”

Madison and Ben are different in so many ways but end up wonderfully complementing one another. Madison is inexperienced in life and Ben seems to have done it all. She’s shy and gentle, he’s outgoing and intense. She is the good girl that Ben seems to be all wrong for but it couldn’t be further from the truth.
GAH! Ben is just so sweet and has a huge heart. He works hard and wants to be taken seriously. He is so much more than his well-known last name or the reputation he made for himself as a teen. I loved watching him prove just how wonderful he was, not only to Madison but to the people he grew up with. I never questioned his feelings or the good in his heart, and it was easy to fall for him.

The whole “make me bad” arrangement should have been all kinds of awkward and strange but Ben takes the task seriously and shows just how good being bad can feel. He is the perfect person to bring Madison out of her shell and help her do the things she has only imagined. I love how she goes all in when she faces the challenges and dares Ben puts forth. She doesn’t hesitate and wants to experience the excitement and feelings of doing new things.

Ben is forbidden but it doesn’t stop them from seeing each other. They form an easy friendship even as the sexual tension builds. Flirty and fun, they have natural chemistry and I could see how good they would be together before they even take a chance. Together, they consume each other and it is hot. A frenzy of limbs and emotions, we get some sexy time along with all of the swoony moments that Ben creates, and I loved it!

I know this thing between us is magical and I’m starting to wonder if he’s the real deal. The one. The yin to my yang.

Overall, I really enjoyed reading Madison and Ben’s love story. There are definitely some ups and downs but the drama is minimal and believable. The epilogue wraps things up beautifully and gives us a peek into their future which I loved. Super sweet, swoony, and full of so much love, it’s my new favorite by R.S. Grey.
