Strike One-My mother named me Theodore after her favorite chipmunk.

Not cool, Mom.

I‘ve spent most of my life answering to Teddy, because I couldn’t make Theo work.

Except for here. College. The place where all bets are off, and I’ve managed to redeem myself.
There’s only one problem, my new roommate, Troy, is football royalty and looks like he stepped off the set of an Abercrombie shoot.

Doesn’t matter, I cook a mean breakfast for his panty parade, and we get along well.
And anyway, this year I got the girl. And she’s perfect.

That’s right. Theodore Houseman, former band geek, now marching band rock star has finally landed the girl of his dreams.

Everything is perfect.

That is, until Troy takes a good look at her.

I’m not going down without a fight. As a matter of fact, I’m not going down at all. As glorious as these days may be for my all-star roommate, Laney is my
end game.

I may not know much about play strategy, but I’ve been the good guy my whole life. I’ve been listening and I know exactly what women want. Framed in a picture standing next to me, Troy may seem like Mr. Perfect, but he’s underestimating the guy on the right.

Spoiler alert: In this story, the underdog is going to win.

4.5 stars!

OMG, this is such a fantastic read! A fresh, surprising, laugh-out-loud NA romantic comedy that is fun and heartfelt with lots of feels, and I loved it!

Theo is the underdog. He’s the good guy, the band geek, the one who had his heart broken by his high school girlfriend and who is usually overlooked by women, hanging in the background and being ignored. And it doesn’t help that his housemate, Troy, is one of the biggest boys on campus – a huge, good looking football star with a revolving door of women coming in and out of his room (with kind-hearted Theo usually cooking them breakfast before they leave).

Laney is the kind of girl that usually falls right under Troy’s spell, but she’s had enough of that and is trying to turn over a new leaf. Independent, opinionated, and a little bit crazy with a “gypsy heart”, she’s a fantastic heroine who is a country girl through and through, and she is wildly entertaining.

True love exists. I’m a believer in it, but maybe just not for the women in my family.
We’re too loud, independent and opinionated.
Or maybe I’m hangry.

A drunken encounter between Theo and Laney leads to them spending a night in open and carefree conversation. They click instantly, and fall into an easy friendship that is full of fantastic banter and conversation, and fun times together that had me laughing at their thoroughly entertaining antics.

“We can hang out … and live our realest life.”

This friendships is just fantastic! They grow close really quickly, and I love how free and easy they are with each other. They don’t hide anything, they are completely open about who they are – flaws and all – and it makes everything between them so real! Laney doesn’t hold back on her crazy, and Theo doesn’t have to act super-manly, they just accept and appreciate each other for who they are, and it is gorgeous to watch.

“Don’t pansy on me, Theo. This isn’t my first time.”
“I’m not pansying. I’m just saying. We’re in the middle of the fucking woods with a rubber slingshot. And don’t think for one second I won’t toss you in front of me at the first sign of danger, because I’m not that guy. You
will die first.”</i.

But, of course, the more time they spend together and the more they get to know each other, things begin to shift and change. It’s slow and steady, and the build-up is beautifully written.

The love story is so, so beautiful! I love a friends-to-lovers romance, and this one is done so well! With their strong friendship as a base, they maintain that sense of fun and playfulness, but they let themselves go as they explore more, and it’s so gorgeous! The sex is really freaking hot and a fantastic extension of the connection between them, but it’s the developing feels that are beautiful to watch, and I love watching everything change between them.

How did I not see this? How could I not have seen this incredible man for what he is? In a matter of life-altering hours, Theo has just become the most irresistible man I’ve ever known. If I’m completely honest, I’ve been falling for him, in pieces, since the night we met ….
I might’ve fallen slowly, but I just landed impossibly deep.

But issues from the past continue to plague our young lovers, and they have their share of heartache to go through as they figure everything out. It’s heartbreaking to read, but I could see where they were coming from, and I appreciated the fact that Stewart allowed these characters to make mistakes. They aren’t perfect, they are real, and they don’t always handle things well, but that’s real life and we just had to watch them work through it, and I loved doing just that.

This book left me with a big grin on my face – I had it most of the way through. It’s sweet, sexy and swoony and lots of fun, and I loved it!

4.5 stars!

I’m really looking forward to the release of a novella for Troy, Fourth and Inches, coming soon!
