When I arrived at your resort, I was broken.
Emotionally and professionally, I had nothing left.

The last three books I published bombed and the ink was barely dry on my divorce papers. The divorce I never saw coming.

All I needed was peace and quiet, and you gave it to me.
That and so much more.

Hope. Courage. Friendship. Passion.
The last thing I want to do is leave.

But if I stayed, I’d only be staying for you.

Staying For You is a friends-to-lovers contemporary romance with a push and pull that will keep you turning the pages.

4.5 stars!

The third and final book in the All For You series, and Jennifer Van Wyk has delivered an absolutely gorgeous romance! Sweet, sexy and functional, this is an irresistible love story between two people burned by love, and I loved it!

Owen is the older brother of Olivia (heroine of Book #1 in the series, Gone For You, though this book can easily standalone). He’s appeared in the previous books of the series as this protective, big-hearted, quiet-ish guy whose heart was broken and who contentedly spends all of his time at The Escape, a resort he runs (both his home and his passion) where people can get away from it all and get back to nature and enjoy the peaceful simplicity of life.

Cami is a romance author who has completely lost her mojo. She’s just gotten out of a really bad marriage, her last two books have flopped, and she’s desperate to get away from her life for a while and get her motivation and inspiration back. So she heads across the country to The Escape for a six week stay in the middle of a snowy winter where it’s just her and the gorgeous owner.

Owen and Cami develop a quick friendship that is sweet, fun and easy, underpinned by an attraction that neither of them even bother to deny.

I don’t know anything about her.
But I know her.
How is that possible? Is this what people talk about when they say they just knew?

The time they spend together is sizzling with chemistry as they laugh, talk and open up and share their pasts with each other, and every moment of it is sizzling with anticipation as we wait for something to happen. But with Cami only at The Escape for a short time, neither of them want to get into anything that will end up with them getting hurt again… at least initially.

She’s incredible and I know it’s a mistake to want more but the alternative, not having her at all and watching her leave here, would be the biggest regret of my life. I know it already.

And so they follow their feelings, knowing that it will come to an end and prepared for that, but not able to resist their attraction any longer, and what follows is a beautifully romantic, honest, passionate and absolutely gorgeous romance that completely captured my heart.

For two people who decided they’d try to keep things surface level, we’re not doing a very good job at it. Everything I learn about him makes me like him more. Every time he touches me makes me ache for more.
I’m screwed.
In both the way I want to be and the way I don’t want to be.

I love these characters. Cami is so relatable – smart, funny and a little bit lost and vulnerable, and I loved her as a heroine. And OMG, Owen! The man is just amazing! He’s sweet, funny, kind and supportive, affectionate, caring and so freaking sexy! He’s a good guy with a heart of gold, and I just adored him! It was no surprise that these two fell so hard for each other, and I loved watching it happen.

But what will happen as Cami’s time at The Escape comes to an end? Though somewhat predictable, Van Wyk was able to surprise me a bit with this one, with events I didn’t see coming, and I was glued to my kindle as it all played out.

The characters from the previous books in the series all appear and I loved seeing them again, and this book finished off beautifully with a double epilogue that left me grinning like a fool.

Jennifer’s books have a particular feel to them – they are feel-good books that are functional and sweet with sort of a wholesomeness about them. Her characters are good people, there’s usually very little stupid behaviour, and the romance is fun, fresh and swoony with a sexy edge. It’s a formula that totally works for her, and I can’t get enough of it!

I loved this one!

About the Author

From the Ground Up was Jennifer’s first published novel and now that she was bitten by the writing bug, has no intention of ever stopping. Jennifer makes her home in small town Iowa with her high school sweetheart, three beautiful, hilarious and amazing kids, one crazy Jack Russell terrier. This is where her love for all things reading, baking, and cooking happen.  Jennifer’s family enjoys camping, boating, and spending time outside as much as possible. You’ll be her best friend if you can make her laugh and follow up with asking her what to read next. When she’s not writing, you can find her cheering the loudest at her kids’ sporting events (read as: embarrassing them), sipping coffee or iced tea out of a mason jar with her Kindle in her lap or binging on Netflix.
