4 ‘at long last’ stars

This is the book that Immortal Guardians fans have been waiting for! Seth’s long-awaited story, I was giddy with excitement as I dove into this one, and I loved seeing him finally find some happiness of his own.

Seth is the leader of the Immortal Guardians – the all-powerful immortal, the father figure, and the fierce protector to his beloved Immortals and their extended families. He is the one who works tirelessly and who is there for his friends and family wherever and whenever they need him. So to see him meet a woman and fall head over heels in love after over a thousand years of celibacy was something truly special.

It would take a strong woman to stand up to all that is Seth, and Leah is that (check out our special bonus from Author, Dianne Duvall – the Top 5 Reasons to Love Leah).  Already a friend to some of Seth’s family, she runs a local children’s store, and from the moment that Seth steps into her premises, sparks fly. There’s a sizzling attraction, and as Seth keeps popping up in Leah’s life, they share s a genuine regard for each other. They enjoy each other’s company, and having both dealt with tragedy in their lives, they recognise another survivor in each other, and that draws them together, happy to bring some peace and calm into each other’s lives. Neither of them are looking for a relationship so they keep things platonic… for a while at least.

The love story between Seth and Leah develops slowly and naturally, and they are beautifully functional about it. They don’t hold anything back from each other, and with them genuinely enjoying each other, their increasing time together allows for their chemistry to burn and their attraction to build, and when they finally act on it… holy hell it’s hot! All of that passion has been building for a while, and when Seth unleashes, dayum!

“It storms when you make love?”
“Apparently.”
Turning back to the large warriors in the hallway, Leah flashed them all a grin. “Well then, boys, you’d better put your rain boots on. Because monsoon season is coming.”

And so Leah enters Seth’s world – one which she never knew existed. It’s a huge shift for her, but she accepts it like a champ, taking it all in stride, and the scenes of her meeting and getting to know the Immortals are fantastic!

Seth scowled and decreed sternly, “Do NOT read her mind, telepaths. I expressly forbid it. Zach, you and David may read Leah’s mind only in the case of a dire emergency. The rest of you may not. Do so against my wishes and you will suffer my wrath.”
Leah nodded somberly. “Seth told me that many of you see him as something of a father figure.” Leaning into his side, she gave his chest a little pat. “Trust me when I say you do NOT want to read my mind and see the kinky shit daddy does in bed.”
Eyes widened as over a dozen mouths fell open.
Seth threw back his head and laughed.

I loved Leah and Seth together. I especially love how Leah treated Seth, accepting him for who he is, making an effort to be there for him and treating him like a normal man rather than an almighty being. She sees his pain, and she tries to ease that, she flirts and teases, and she draws him out like nobody before, and watching him find that peace and freedom with somebody was just gorgeous!

He took so much upon himself to try to spare others. When she would’ve loosened her hold to look up at him, he tightened his arms around her.
“Let me hold you a little longer,” he whispered.
Nodding, she relaxed against him.
Several minutes passed while they just held each other.
“You make everything better, Leah,” he murmured.
Warmth burrowed through her chest, straight to her heart. “You do, too.”

Meanwhile, Seth and his Immortal Guardians are hunting down one of the most dangerous adversaries they have ever faced. Gershom is set on raising hell, and the hunt is on to bring him down and rescue those that he has taken. It’s dangerous and violent, and with the threat of Gershom ever-lurking, everybody is on edge.

There is action, excitement and suspense as the danger becomes all too real, and it’s a wild ride as the entire crew works to bring down the bad guy, facing the unimaginable and creating a really exciting read.

This is a really long read, and there is a lot going down, but also a lot of detail given as we experience Seth and Leah’s romance with them, and I thought the balance of love story and action was really well done. This book also ties up some of the previous books in the series – incorporating previous couples into the action, and I loved getting to see them again and watch them play a part in all of the unfolding drama.

There are some shocks and surprises along the way, but the book finishes in a great place, leaving me completely satisfied at how Seth’s story played out. And that epilogue hints are more to come for the Immortal Guardians and I’m really excited to see where the series is going to go from here.

4 stars!
