Woohoo! We’re back in the Elemental World series, and I love it! This novella is a follow up story for Baojia and Natalie, and should not be read as a standalone. Beware that it also has spoilers for the Elemental Legacy spin-off series. So this is definitely one for the fans, who will adore catching up with so many of their favourite characters.
It’s been eight years since Baojia and Natalie met and fell in love. They have created a life together they have a family, and they live as normally as possible in their paranormal world with a vampire husband/father. But when life takes a turn, their plans must change, and it throws them into a spin. Natalie’s time has come.
With help and support from their close friends, they all travel to a special getaway in Chile to spend Christmas and New Year’s together before Natalie’s life changes forever. It was always inevitable, but it’s a bittersweet time, and it’s realistically and sensitively handled, and I loved watching Baojia and Natalie both come to terms with everything they are about to face. They are an amazing couple, so strong together and very much in love, and I loved seeing them so happy and still so wild for each other.
“Thank you.”
She smiled. “For what?”
“For loving me. You knew this day was coming. From the beginning, you knew. And you loved me anyway.”
Natalie threw her arms around his neck. “It wasn’t a choice.”
A good portion of the Elemental crew are by their sides as they take this big step together, and of course I loved seeing them all again. And there is a hint dropped at the end there… are we getting another Carwyn and Brigid book?
I thought that this book ended a bit abruptly, and I would have loved just a little bit more, but it’s a beautifully written story and a wonderful chance to catch up with these characters that I love so much.
4.5 stars.
