Natalie

Dr. Easton is part man, part myth.
He’s a formidable surgeon. Highly respected in his field.
He also happens to be an ex-collegiate quarterback with a classically handsome face.
Are you catching on yet?
He’s horrible.
Beautiful.
A walking Ralph Lauren ad.
He’s also so off limits he should come with a warning label: This way lies heartache.

Not only is he an attending at the hospital where I’m training, he’s also my brother’s best friend. If you’ve lost count, that’s two reasons why I plan on putting this ridiculous crush behind me. Besides, it’s definitely not mutual.

Dr. Easton has never once paid me special attention. No tempting smirks. Not even one subtle innuendo. To him, I’m just another resident—all but invisible.

Connor

For the last five years, I’ve mentored Natalie in the OR, stayed in line, and kept my hands to myself, but it’s been agonizing.

Natalie is trouble in scrubs. A walking temptation I’ve been forced to ignore.

For so long, I’ve wanted her in silence. By the time fate finally gets around to throwing me a bone, my patience has run out.

Natalie’s brother is leaving town, and he wants me to watch over her while he’s gone.

He has no idea how I feel about her.
Neither does she.
But she will.

Haven’t you heard good things come to those who wait, Natalie?
Well…I’ve done my waiting.

Review

4 stars!

A brother’s best friend romance where the heroine’s crush is moving in to keep an eye on her while her brother is away?! Yes, please! Add in the fact that unbeknownst to her, the hero wants her just as badly and we get the perfect set up for some smokin’ hot sexy times. Mix the heat with humor and heart and you get Doctor Dearest, another entertaining romantic comedy by RS Grey.

I love the brother’s best friend trope and this one is so satisfying. Natalie and Cooper have known each other for ages and both are doctors at the same hospital. Natalie has crushed on Cooper since she met him but he’s always been off limits because not only is Cooper her brother’s best friend, she’s also worked under him during her residency program. They have never crossed the line but they are about to get a whole lot closer when Cooper moves into the house she shares with her brother.

I loved the set-up of this story and adored the characters, especially Cooper. I think he stole the show. He is such an amazing guy with huge heart. I was eating up every scene he was in and swooning the whole time! I really liked Natalie too. She is sweet, smart, and has strong work ethic that is admirable, but it’s her character growth that made me like her even more.

Natalie and Cooper are hilarious when they are together. Their banter is fantastic and their friendship is fun. On the outside it’s all teasing but on the inside, emotions are brewing. There is no questioning the feelings they have towards each other; however, they’ve kept them bottled up so long that when they are finally out in the open, Cooper and Natalie find it hard to navigate the new road between friends and lovers.

Despite the fact that they desperately want each other, there is a lot of push and pull. The sexual tension skyrockets with all the back and forth and they just about combust when they finally accept what they want.

Then, roadblock after roadblock threatens to end the love that is just blooming. Throw in a few unexpected twists and everything is up in the air.

I’ve waited for what feels like an eternity to finally fess up to the feelings I have for her, and now it’s turned into a royal mess.

The story is surprising but believable, and I enjoyed the way Natalie and Cooper come together. Happy, swoony, sexy moments fill the pages once everyone is on the same page and I was giddy with the love between Natalie and Cooper. And though I was a bit frustrated with the amount of back and forth between the two of them in the beginning, there was never any question of their feelings which made me believe it. There is just enough drama to keep you glued to the pages and a whole lot of fun and love to enjoy until the very end.

Overall, I really enjoyed Doctor Dearest and I though the brother’s best friend trope was well executed. I have to add that I hope Noah and Lindsey get a book so that they can pursue the connection they have, and I would love to get more of Natalie and Cooper too!

  1. This is the first book I’ve read by this author and I truly loved it. There aren’t many times that I can say I truly feel the emotion of the character, but this book kept me on my toes. This was like watching a well executed romcom. I sincerely hope that Lindsey and Noah get their own story because I just searched the internet hoping that I could find a release date. I cant wait to browse through Amazon to find a new story to start today! Great job!
