Blurb

An unpauseable new romance from New York Times bestselling, Audie Award winning author Kylie Scott—available in audio first! Narrated by the awesome Andi Arndt.

When Anna wakes up from a coma after a car crash, she discovers life has gone on without her. Her husband has been unfaithful – with her best friend – and she’s been long since replaced at work. While her old life is a distant memory, her new life feels like an empty shell. Then she meets the stranger who saved her life during the crash, and he changes everything.

Leif Larsen – tattooist, joker, and player – has his own scars thanks to the crash that put Anna in a coma. Helping her move on from her failed marriage, and create a new life, sounds like a perfect distraction. So when he needs a new roommate, he invites Anna to begin her new life with him.

Although their lives may have been put on pause, together they just might find a way to heal.

Review

4.5 stars!

I love this book! A gorgeously fun and heartfelt friends-to-lovers romance that is full of banter and chemistry with characters that I adored. It’s such a great read!

This book is a spin-off from Repeat. Leif was introduced in that book as the younger brother of Ed, and was a hilarious scene-stealer. This book can be read as a standalone, just note that it does contain some spoilers for Repeat.

We meet Anna as she is waking up in a hospital bed only to be told that she was in a car accident and has been in a coma for 7 months. Life has gone on without her, and in a devastating twist, her husband was unfaithful with one of her best friends while she was lying unconscious. Separated, living with her parents and without a job, her life is practically unrecognisable, and with a long road of rehab ahead of her, she’s pretty much starting life all over again.

Leif was also an innocent involved in the crash that upended Anna’s life. He suffered his own injuries, and spent some time at Anna’s bedside, reading to her while she was comatose. So when Anna tracks him down as part of her efforts to figure everything out, he is more than happy to see her and appoints himself somewhat of a life coach, helping her to move on.

Theirs is a fun friendship that is full of cute and funny moments. Leif is a jokester, and their connection is easy, honest and playful. As part of Anna’s fight to claim back her life, she moves in with Leif as his new roommate (strictly platonic of course), which means they end up spending even more time together as their lives become more intertwined.

I love these characters! They are funny and relatable and are so honest and open with each other. There’s no game playing or stupid behaviour, they are completely natural with each other, and it’s awesome watching their effortless friendship develop into something more. Their feelings build beautifully, and though it takes them a little while to figure out exactly what they want and what they mean to each other, I could relate to what they’re feeling, and I enjoyed the ride with them so much.

Leif totally stole my heart. He may look like a tattooed, motorcycle-riding bad boy, but he is so sweet, with a heart of gold. He is supportive of Anna, encouraging her and caring for her, and he’s there for her in whatever way she needs. He’s also so freaking funny, and I laughed out loud so many times at their banter and quick back and forth dialogue. He’s dealing with his own issues when it comes to love and relationships, but he is working through it, and I loved watching his journey through Anna’s eyes as their story progresses.

The book is written entirely from Anna’s POV, and I loved her! She’s strong, brave and funny, and she goes through so much, but she’s practical, sensible, intelligent and so relatable. I loved being in her head as she thinks about her life and figures herself out, and watching her rebuild and find out who she truly is, was a real treat.

They’re perfect together, and the romance is sweet, sexy and swoony, and I was gleefully swept up in their gorgeous love story as they naturally and whole-heartedly fall for each other.

I listened to this one as an audiobook, narrated by Andie Arndt, and she is just perfect. She captures both Anna and Leif so well, and this was a great book to listen to.

I loved it – 4.5 stars!
