This novella in the Black Dagger Brotherhood series revisits Qhuinn and Blay, as we get to see where they are at and delve a little bit more into their relationship, and Qhuinn’s tumultuous past with his family.

I love these two boys, and their relationship unfolded beautifully throughout the series. They are still together, blissfully in love and madly passionate with each other, and I loved seeing them so stable, happy and deeply committed. They are also co-parenting Qhuinn’s young twins, and seeing them both in the role of father to their young was just gorgeous.

But life is about to throw them a huge curveball, and it rocks Qhuinn to his core. They’ll need to pull together like never before to get through it, and it’s an emotional journey for them, and other members of the household as they do just that.

At the same time – it’s Christmas in Caldwell and the BDB family is full into preparations for the human holiday. But the party planning takes a dramatic turn when a deadly blizzard hits. It brings some excitement and provides a great opportunity for us to see the fantastic group dynamics. I loved seeing so much of the extended family group –. I think everybody at least gets a mention, and as always I loved seeing everybody interacting in their own unique ways.

One of the biggest surprises for me in this book – and one of the best – was getting Zsadist POV again! We haven’t seen much of the scarred badass since his own book, way back at #3 in the series, and getting to check in with him again, was such a treat! His own POV is only brief, but he becomes an important part of Qhuinn and Blay’s story, which was amazing to see, and I loved seeing so much of him.

This book is a real treat for BDB fans. It provides full closure for Qhuinn and Blay’s story, with an ending that left me with a huge smile on my face, and I thought it was beautifully told.

I loved it – 4 stars.
