This is such a sweet read! A spin-off from The Anna Albertini Files, it’s a quick story for Albertini cousin, Quint, who has appeared in the series, but this book can be read as a standalone – just beware that there will be a lot of characters that you don’t know.

Quint is a man who lives his life free and easy. He is a smokejumper and rescue expert, and together with his service dog, he lives a happy life, except that he’s been unable to meet a woman who accepts him and the danger of his job.

Heather is new to town. She has just inherited her grandmother’s house, and she’s embracing a new start. But things don’t go according to plan when she has a bad fall on a mountainside, and has to be rescued – by none other than handsome Quint who literally carries her down a mountain on his back.

It’s insta-attraction, and there’s great flirting and banter. And then Quint’s well-intentioned family get involved, inserting themselves into Heather’s life and encouraging the two of them together.

But Heather is running from something, and when the threat follows her to town, it adds suspense to the story. It also allows us to see Quint as the hero, yet again (*swoon*). But Zanetti manages to keep the story lighthearted, with a sense of fun and excitement. It has a similar feel to the other books in the series, and I enjoyed the fast-paced chaos of it all.

And in the centre of it all, Quint and Heather find their way to each other in an honest, open, chemistry-filled romance that is just gorgeous.

“Every girl wants a hero.”
“Is that a fact?” He took a drink of her wine. “Well, you’ve got one if you want one.”
“I want one,” she whispered. “But just you.”

I really enjoyed this read. It’s a quick one, but it kept me engaged, and I can’t wait for more from the series.

4 stars!

About the Author

Rebecca Zanetti is the author of over fifty romantic suspense and dark paranormal romances, and her books have appeared multiple times on the New York Times, USA Today, Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and iBooks bestseller lists. The New York Times reviews has found that in her books, “humor surfaces in even the tensest moments, giving the high-stakes drama humanity and warmth.” She lives in the wilds of the Pacific Northwest with her own Alpha hero, two kids, a couple of dogs, a crazy cat…and a huge extended family. She believes strongly in luck, karma, and working her butt off…and she thinks one of the best things about being an author, unlike the lawyer she used to be, is that she can let the crazy out.
