𝗬𝗲𝘀, 𝗜’𝗺 𝗮 𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗹𝗲 𝗱𝗮𝗱 𝘄𝗵𝗼 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱𝘀 𝗮 𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗻𝘆 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝘂𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗿.

But hire the 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗱 𝗿𝘂𝗻𝗮𝘄𝗮𝘆 𝗯𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗲 who shows up on my doorstep in a wedding gown with no references, no skills, and no experience?

No one is that desperate.

Except within twenty-four hours, down-on-her-luck Veronica Sutton manages to charm my kids, my family, and half the population of Cherry Tree Harbor into believing she’s perfect for the job.

It’s not that I can’t see the appeal–those baby blue eyes? The endless legs? That mouth made for trouble? But I’ve got enough on my plate, raising two kids on my own and keeping the family business alive. I don’t have the time or the inclination to fall for an outspoken city girl.

So I should have kept my hands to myself.

Holding her in my arms was a big mistake. Even worse? Spending the night together. She ignites a possessive fire in me that I’m finding hard to snuff out.

But the most unforgivable? Growing attached to the sound of her laugh, the scent of her skin, and the way her body wraps around mine in the dark.

Review

4.5 stars!

Runaway Love is the first book in the Cherry Tree Harbor series and it hooked me from the very first page. It’s a wonderful grumpy/sunshine, single dad romance and has everything I love in a small town setting. It’s sweet, fun, full of heart, and oh, so good!

Veronica is about to get married when she gets a text from her fiancée. Only it’s a text meant for someone else and she quickly discovers he’s been cheating on her. She runs from the wedding after dealing with the groom and she has to figure out how to get back home when everything she has belongs to her ex. And he won’t make it easy for her to move on.

Austin is a single dad to twins who is in need of a nanny since his sister is leaving and can’t watch the kids anymore. She wants to help find him help and when she meets Veronica she thinks she could be great at the job. Even though Austin doesn’t want to hire her, when Veronica gets her chance, everything changes.

I adored Veronica. She has lost herself along the way but she is strong and determined to find herself and never let a man rule her life again. She has a sweet disposition and is immediately likable. She is so good with the kids and I had a smile on my face with every interaction she had with them and with all of the townspeople.

Austin is a grump. His life changed when he found out he was going to be a father but he went all in and it is the sweetest thing. He loves those kids and would do anything for them. He just can’t do what he loves for a job because he has a lot of pressure on his shoulder with the family business.

Veronica comes into Austin’s world and lights up his life. Neither know that they are exactly what the other needs and they definitely don’t act on their attraction immediately. Their chemistry is off the charts but they don’t want to mess up the job. However, it only takes getting these two alone before they can’t keep their hands off of each other and they turn up the heat. But it’s short lived and everything become more difficult when the kids get back home.

There are things both Veronica and Austin have to come to terms with and there’s a little bit of heartache thrown into the story that pulls at your heartstrings but thankfully there is not OTT drama. I loved how things played out and I thought they were so good together.

And the kids!! I loved them. This author does such a great job with writing kids in her stories. They are true to their age and she writes the relationship between parent and child so well. I just adore her stories when kids are involved.

Overall, this story is a wonderful start to a new series and I can’t wait for more. Bring on more Cherry Tree Harbor!!
