Do books have souls?

Anna Black has the perfect novel choice for her book club. She also has a sexy new neighbor who jumps at the opportunity to join fellow bookworms in discussing her pick for their summer read.

It’s lust at first sight and the marriage of two literary souls.

The charismatic owner of a new T-shirt store in Des Moines’s East Village, Eric Steinmann, has a confident air and an irresistible “mating dance.” He’s almost perfect … until he says the wrong word.

Will Anna and Eric write their own story? Or will their chemistry die when fiction turns into reality?

**Right Guy, Wrong Word was originally written as a short story, The Last Person. It’s been revised with significant changes to the original content and extended into a full-length novel.

Review

4.5 stars!

“Life is what happens outside the bound story. Life isn’t the letters on the page; it’s what inspires those words.”

I loved this book and adored Eric and Anna. From the moment these two meet they put a smile on my face. The banter, heat, and heart are so well written, and I was fully invested in them from the first page to the last.

Eric is interested in Anna and is not afraid to show it. And she fights him at every turn until she accepts the fact that she too is interested. They have a lot of fun and I enjoyed being along for the ride as they really got to know each other.

“Don’t ever surrender.” He hands me a menu. “Promise me you’ll always make me work for it.”
It’s hard not to surrender to that smile. “Work for what?” I hide behind the menu before he melts me into a puddle of mush with one look.
Fucking mating dance …
“You.”

However, Eric tends to say the wrong thing most of the time and Anna can’t handle it and it puts a rift between them. She has to figure out her life before she can fully accept his love so when she pulls away, it really hurt because they were so good together.

They both grow individually over the years and they needed that time away to figure out what they truly wanted out of life. When they meet again the attraction and feelings are still there and I knew they could be better than ever, and they are.

I loved that Eric wasn’t shy about his feelings and that he was honest and didn’t change who he was. Also, his “mating dance” and how he pursued her with his slightly over the top antics were hilarious and heartwarming. He always put a smile on my face.

I was slightly frustrated with Anna at times but after we realize why she reacted to Eric’s words the way she did, I understood where she was coming from.

Overall, I adored Eric and Anna and their beautiful second chance romance.
