A second-chance, brother’s-best-friend romance, this is a gorgeous read with so much swoon, and I loved it.

This is the second book in The Edge series, and there is some character crossover, but this book can easily be read as a standalone.

Aria and Weston met as teenagers. He was her older brother’s best friend, and over time they developed a special friendship of their own. They loved each other, but the timing was bad, and circumstances and their three-year age gap kept them apart. Now it’s ten years later and Weston reappears in Aria’s life as the surgeon who just saved the life of her best friend, and with one look at Aria, Weston knows that now is the chance he’s been hoping for his whole life.

Oh, I love a second-chance romance! There is already so much emotion between the couple, and the longing and desperation to get back what they lost just pulls at my heartstrings. This book has that in spades! Weston is absolutely smitten with Aria, and his open devotion to her is just beautiful.

I tuck her into to my chest, much the way I did this morning in the rain. I wrap my arms around her and plant my lips into the top of her head. She smells like vanilla and jasmine and feels like everything my arms have been missing for the last ten years.

Weston broke Aria’s heart all those years ago, and she is determined to protect herself this time. She tries her hardest to keep him at bay, but how the hell is she supposed to resist this?

“I’ve loved you for a very long time. Even though I never felt I had a right to deserve you.” His eyes search mine, endless pools of green that I lose myself in. “Fall in love with me again, Aria.”

The romance is a bit of a slow burn while Weston does his best to win Aria over again, but I felt every moment, and every little step forward they take together. It’s steamy and swoony, and I was completely swept up.

“I look at you and I see my forever. Give me a chance to win you back for good. To show you I’m your forever too. I swear, I won’t mess you up this time.”

Bringing added complexity is the mystery of all that went down between them in the past, which is revealed in flashback chapters, then Aria’s persistent ex-boyfriend is also fighting for a second chance with her, and the drama of her best friend’s brutal attack which landed him in hospital. All of the different storylines are woven together really well, creating an emotional read, but the focus is most definitely the romance.

“I never stopped loving you. You’ve always been the love of my life. The one I compared everyone else against.”

The story ends in a really good place, and there’s good lead-in to the next book of the series, and I’m excited to continue on.

I loved this one – 4 stars.
