Garbage Man is the first book in the all new Blue-Collar Vigilante Vampires series and an entertaining start to this new world. Rook Slater and his brothers, Kane and Cal, are blue-collar vampires.  They don’t belong with the elite vampires that rule the city because of old traditions. There are female humans with “special” blood living among them and the elites hold auctions to win the chosen females whether the females are willing or not. Unfortunately for the elites, Rook has found his mate and she just so happens to be the next female on the elites list. Unable to stop himself from saving her from the evil world the elites want to thrust her into, Rook brings on a whole lot of trouble when he and his brothers take the woman, leaving death in their wake.

Garbage Man is just the beginning.  It’s a quick read and leaves you wanting more. The Slater brothers are hilarious together but you can feel their love and support for each other even if their actions put them all at risk. When Rook has an instant connection with Kylie, he knows it’s the fated bond. You don’t feel it until you turn twenty-eight and even then, you have to meet the woman you are fated to experience the bond.  It is all consuming and Rook knows he will do anything for Kylie, even tear the world apart. 

Kylie thinks Rook hates her but there is a pull she doesn’t understand and it takes a moment for her to realize that there is something between them more than just attraction. Being stuck in a room with her fated mate is just what she needed to feel the bond’s full effect. Their relationship develops very quickly and is exactly what insta-love is but it makes sense and works since we are dealing with the supernatural. 

Along with the  development of the world around them and the bond between Rook and Kylie, we get details about Kane and Cal that leave you wanting to know them better, too. Garbage Man ends on a bit of a cliffhanger and is only part of the overall story.  It’s best if you dive right into book two, Repo Man, so you don’t miss a thing.
