“I’m Becca Owens – a broken girl.
And he’s Josh Warden – the boy who broke me.”

Wow, Jay McLean, you’ve just rocked my world!

I loved Josh and Becca’s love story in Kick Push, though I did find that book to be a little overly heavy on the drama. These two characters went through SO much, I felt it was a bit of an emotional overload, only for us to then have to wait for their happy ending! I admit I was nervous about this book, but it was the PERFECT ending for Josh, Becca and little Tommy!! It was beautiful, sweet, heartbreaking and swoony, it gave me everything I wanted and more. This book totally wow’d me.

I don’t want to go into the storyline because I don’t want to ruin anything for those who haven’t read Kick Push, but this book picks up right where the first one left off. There’s not a lot of rehashing so if you don’t remember details, I’d recommend at least skimming through the end of Kick, Push. I did, and was instantly thrust back into the emotional turmoil that is the end of that book and I was totally in the zone when I picked this one up.

“I’m Becca Owens – a broken girl.
And he’s Josh Warden – the boy who broke me.”

“We loved in ways that can’t be explained, hurt in ways that can’t be justified.”

First and foremost – Josh Warden, you freaking OWN me! This is an NA hero who puts those manwhoring bad boys to shame – a dedicated and loving single Dad with the biggest heart who is wholly and soully committed to the love of his life. I loved seeing where he was at, achieving the success he’s wanted for so long, and I love that it hasn’t changed him. I love that he’s still totally in love with his little boy and cherishes their relationship, I love the love that he has for his family, and I love that his love for Becca continues to grow even after all they’ve been through.

“You’re not just a girl to me and you never have been. If you need me to prove that to you, I will. If you want me to fight for you, I will. If you want me to go to war for you, I fucking will.”

Becca has had a torturous life. She found happiness with Josh and Tommy, only to hit rock bottom. She has worked hard to pull her life together, and I really admired her strength and her growth as a character. She’s come a long way, and the fact that she kept moving forward and overcame the tragic obstacles in her way is amazing.

Josh and Becca both have a long journey ahead of them, and I love that time is dedicated to their personal development, as well as their love story. They have issues they need to deal with individually, and we get to watch that happen, but we also get to see them finding their way forward together, and OMG, it’s BEAUTIFUL!!!

“I’m in love you with, Becs. I never stopped loving you.”

Their road is a bumpy one and is heartbreaking at times, but it’s realistic, and I love the way they fought for each other, and for their future together. Josh, in particular, wore his heart on his sleeve and fought hard for his girl, and it was incredible.

“I’m here now, and I’m not letting you go until I give you everything I am … And if it’s still not enough, if you still won’t believe me, then I’ll keep trying. Over and over. Until you realize that you could have come to me shattered, broken, in an infinite of pieces, and I would’ve made you whole. I would have loved you. Every damaged piece of you. In all ways and for always.”

It’s emotional and oh-so-swoony, but there’s still the lightness and humour that I loved about their coming together in the first book, the cheeky teasing and so many beautifully sweet moments that had me grinning like a fool.

“I would love nothing more than to be your hero, Becca Owens.”

And then there’s Tommy the scene stealer. Like his Dad, he’s an absolute sweetheart! He had me laughing out loud so many times, and my heart broke for him when he was sad. He is a huge part of this story, and his relationship with his Dad and “his” Becca, was just beautiful.

“My Becca’s home.”

This book is an emotional journey. It’s a story about love and loss, family and friendship, about heartbreak, healing from the past, and finding the strength to move forward. Most of all it’s an amazing love story that absolutely stole my heart.

And not only do we get the much-deserved happy ending, but there’s an epilogue showing us an EXTRA happy ending that had my eyes brimming with happy tears.

If you loved Kick, Push, then you will love this gorgeous finale to Josh and Becca’s story.

5 stars.
