5 sensational stars!

Whoa, what a ride! Another incredible read from Sarah J. Maas, and an absolutely amazing addition to the Throne of Glass series. Anything I say will be a spoiler for previous books in the series, and you just need to dive in and experience this story so I’m not going to say a lot, but just…. wow.

Aelin Ashryver Galathynius is quickly becoming one of my all-time favourite heroines. The “fire-breathing bitch queen” is nothing short of spectacular in this book as she fights for the people she loves, plots her long-awaited vengeance, and claims her rightful place in her world.

“She was fire, and light, and ash, and embers. She was Aelin Fireheart, and she bowed for no one and nothing, save the crown that was hers by blood and survival and triumph.”

The side characters that I have grown to love are all a pivotal part of this book. Chaol, Dorian, Rowan, Aedion and even Manon all have their own journeys that are just as engrossing as Aelin’s, and I loved the addition of Lysandra. Each of their stories intertwines with the others to create a wonderfully multifaceted story. And set against a fantastical world of magic, politics and danger that is both complex and fascinating, this is an incredible read! And yes! There’s even some romance.

“Tell me that we’ll get through tomorrow. Tell me that we’ll survive the war. Tell me—” She swallowed hard. “Tell me that even if I lead us all to ruin, we’ll burn in hell together.”
“We’re not going to hell, Aelin,” he said. “But wherever we go, we’ll go together.”

There is so much that happens in this book. A lot of turning points, surprises, and significant character and relationship development, and that ending! I think I actually stopped breathing. Everything is turned on its head once again, with the storyline taking a huge shift. My heart was pounding through most of this book – with excitement, anticipation, happiness and fear – and I felt everything. These books have everything, and though it ends in a good place I cannot WAIT to see where it’s all going to go from here!

She looked at them, at the three males who meant everything—more than everything. Then she smiled with every last shred of courage, of desperation, of hope for the glimmer of that glorious future. “Let’s go rattle the stars.”

I absolutely adored it. 5 huge stars.
