Top Tip: Don’t put out an online ad offering your services as a fake date. Someone will take you up on it.

And it won’t just be for one night.

And that, ladies and gentlemen, is how I ended up being Mason Jackson’s fake girlfriend.

He didn’t even want me to be. No—his sister was solely responsible for me being his date for his ten-year high school reunion.

Now, she’s responsible for telling his parents our relationship is real.

We have no choice. We have to act like this isn’t all a mistake, like it’s not all fake, like we’re totally, completely, utterly, head-over-heels in love with each other.

Simple, right?

Wrong.

Review

4 “you’re something else” stars!

Offering my services as a fake date for one night only. Got a wedding you need a date for? I’m a classy girl in public with a dirty side in private. How about a family get-together where you’re the only single grandchild going? This blue-eyed brunette with a passion for pizza is the one you’ve been looking for. Or if you’re heading to a party and need to make that one person jealous—I’ve got an ass you could crack diamond on.
Contact me at lauren.a.green@gmail.com with your needs.
And no, I’m not charging.
But I’m not buying my own drinks either.

This ad is the start to Lauren and Mason’s love story and what follows is a fresh take on the fake relationship trope. Hilariously entertaining and a feel good, fast read, I couldn’t put it down.

Mason isn’t looking for love. He doesn’t even want a relationship after his fiancé of 6 years cheated on him. He has a reunion to attend and he is fine with going alone even if it means seeing his ex-fiancé again. His sister has other ideas, though, and thinks he needs a date to face his ex. When she sees the online ad for a fake date, she jumps at the opportunity to help her brother out, even if didn’t ask for help.

Lauren and Mason end up going on the “fake date” and even though it goes really well, neither are interested in a relationship and they part ways. They assume they won’t see each other again but they didn’t factor in the meddlesome people in their lives. When they are forced to play pretend a little longer, feelings grow and everything changes. They can’t deny that there is something between them and the more they hang out the more they get to know each other, discovering just how perfect of a match they are.

I didn’t want to date. I wasn’t ready to date.
But I hadn’t been ready for Lauren, either.
Yet here she was, in my life, working her way into my heart bit by bit.

Lauren was so funny! Her wacky sayings were hilarious and I loved her confidence while being her true self. Mason was a sweetheart and I loved that he got Lauren. They have the same sense of humor and understood each other. I just loved every moment these two were together.

With their laugh out loud exchanges and fun personalities, Lauren and Mason are so great as a couple. They have fantastic chemistry, witty banter, and the attraction is believable. They just clicked and I could feel their connection. The progression from pretending to having real feelings is natural and well-paced. I loved the humor and heat, and I thought that the lack of angst and the functionality of their relationship was refreshing.

I have to give a shout out to the secondary characters. They are too funny! I loved that they meddle and set everything in motion. Mason’s sister, Kirsty, may overstep her boundaries but everything works out in the end. I would love to get my hands on her story. And Aunt Pru was a hoot! I was cracking up with everything she did. Every friend and family member just added to the fun and I loved seeing them interact with Mason and Lauren.

Overall, I really enjoyed The Accidental girlfriend. It is 100% lighthearted fun, and I couldn’t put it down!
