The stunning conclusion to Parallel.

Review

4 stars!

The second book in the Parallel Duet, I dropped everything when this book landed on my kindle, desperate to see how Quinn and Nick’s story was going to play out after their intriguing and exciting beginning in Parallel.

This is absolutely not a standalone, and if it’s been a while since you’ve read the first book, I would recommend getting a quick recap of all that unfolded because this book throws you right back into the action. There’s not a lot that I can say without spoiling the enthralling reveal of events in Parallel, so this review will be vague.

Nick and Quinn are desperate to unravel the truth about their past and, piece by piece, it’s coming together. But each bit of information they discover leads them closer to catastrophe, and with time very quickly running out, their mission becomes more and more desperate. They need answers, starting with tracking down the mysterious woman who seems to be in the middle of it all. And with Quinn remembering more every day, will they be able to deal with the consequences when the truth is finally revealed? Can they prevent history from repeating, and alter their fate before it’s too late?

This is a rollercoaster of a read. Surprising and unexpected, there are a lot of twists and turns, and I was kept guessing as it all played out. Most of the questions I had are answered, but due to the complexity of this world there are still some things that I’m unsure about and my logical brain is still trying to wrap itself around everything that unfolded. But I love the originality of the story, and the incredible love story between Nick and Quinn.

The romance is just beautiful! Passionate and intense with so many feels, the chemistry and connection between Quinn and Nick is wonderfully written, and I could feel everything that was between them. I loved the lack of drama between the two of them – because honestly, there’s enough going on without dealing with that – and the two of them form this strong cornerstone as they unravel everything around them, and I love that!

I certainly wasn’t expecting this story to go where it did, which I really appreciated. I love when a book is able to surprise me! However after all of the build-up in the first book, parts of this story seemed a bit rushed to me, or threads were left undone, but there is a spin-off coming – the story of a side character within this world – which will hopefully provide some more details and closure to events in this book.

For me, this one didn’t quite live up to the expectations I had after reading Parallel, but it’s an enjoyable and satisfying read which is really beautifully written, and Nick and Quinn’s story finishes off really well.

4 stars.
