From USA Today & Wall Street Journal bestselling author Jewel E. Ann comes a novel so heartfelt and real it redefines the meaning of love.

I’m the wrong guy in the right place the night I steal Tatum Bradshaw from another man. When she mistakes me for her blind date, I decide she deserves a man who shows up on time … like me. Emmett Riley, Mr. Punctual.

Once I confess my true identity and convince her I’m not a creep–just a thief–it’s only a matter of time before my sexy smile and quick wit claim her heart, her hand in marriage, and the perfect life.

Unfortunately, perfection is an illusion, like the promises of our wedding vows. No one can prepare for the unimaginable–the heartbreaking exception to all the rules in life.

When thirty seconds destroys everything, I have to find a new existence and keep my promise to always love our daughter, Lucy, the most.

For Lucy, I will keep a secret, and I will watch my wife drift into the arms of another man.

Given the chance … can I reclaim my wife and the pieces of our life?

Review

5 stars!

Every time I start a Jewel E. Ann novel I know I am in for the ride of my life and to get the tissues ready. This book gave me all the feels, and honestly, I am still affected days after finishing it. Emotionally, this story really threw me for a loop. It goes back and forth from the present to the past, and while I didn’t know exactly what was going to happen, I knew it was tragic. From highs to lows and everything in between, I could hardly catch my breath as I turned the pages. And though it broke my heart I loved the way the story was written.

In the present, you have a Emmett and Tatum who share a daughter named Lucy and who are divorced. It is heartbreaking to experience the pain that’s felt when your true love is no longer within reach and my heart hurt at the beginning of the story because Emmett’s unending love was real.

My love for her is not contingent on her love for me.

In the past, we have the start of Emmett and Tatum’s romance that only gets better as we live their journey and watch them grow together. Their love is all consuming and I was swept up in their romance.

Everything we did with so much passion, it felt like we were our own elemental force. We didn’t just fall in love, we collided until our souls tangled, until we knew any attempt to live without each other would leave us crippled.

And then the tragedy hits. My heart ripped in two and I wasn’t sure I’d survive this book. The pain is too much to handle and I sobbed and sobbed. I was not ready for that much heartbreak. But there’s healing and forgiveness and while these characters may never be whole again, their love never dies. It may get pushed away so they could survive and when they reconnect it’s because their love was always meant to be and I felt it.

Emmett, Tatum, and Lucy have all found a special place in my heart. They are flawed characters who are far from perfect but their imperfections are what make them human and relatable. Since the story is told almost entirely from Emmett’s POV, I felt the connection to him the most and he won my heart immediately. I felt his love for Tatum and I felt it for Lucy. After all, every decision he makes is for Lucy and they are difficult and heartbreaking, and my heart was his every step of the way.

Tatum was a little harder to warm up to in the beginning and part of that may be because we do not get her POV. I really wanted to get into her head and it’s not until the end when everything is out in the open that I really understood her feelings.

I loved Lucy and I adored her relationship with her father. They share a special bond and she is his reason to go on after his marriage dissolves. He puts her first and I truly believed his love for her.

Overall, For Lucy delivers an epic second-chance romance that brings on all the feels as two hearts find their way back to each other after the unimaginable tears their world apart. It’s not an easy read but it is definitely a new fave! I loved it!
