This is a great little novella, available free when you sign up for Lisette Marshall’s newsletter, here – https://lisettemarshall.com/damask/.

This story is set a short while after the end of Velvet. Princess of the Peaks, Viviette, is still working with her father’s Spymaster, Jaghar, and they are secretly sleeping with each other, and secretly falling for each other more and more every day.

When a visiting Royal drops dead of poisoning at the King’s dinner table, it’s up to the two lovers to investigate the crime.

This is a great little read that is smart, sexy and intriguing. The mystery part of the story is surprising and well written, and I loved seeing these characters in action again. As the hopeless romantic that I am, though, I loved seeing the shifting dynamic between Jaghar and Viviette. Still ‘friends with benefits’, there’s something more brewing between them now, and hints of the romance to come have me bursting with anticipation for the series to continue.

This is a great addition to the series, and I really enjoyed it.
