This is a prequel novella to the Plays & Penalties series – specifically for the first book, Play Fake, showing us the very first meeting of book #1 couple, Waylon and Mackenzie.

It’s hate at first sight for Mackenzie, who has no time for a football playing playboy in her life. So when she and Waylon are invited along with friends to a movie, she’s all kinds of snarky with him. It’s entertaining, but we never quite get to the bottom of her insta-hate. With his playful flirtiness and her determined anger, it’s a situation that’s sure to bring sparks, and I’m looking forward to reading their full story.

“Yeah, I don’t want to kiss guys like you. I want to be kissed by the guy who can’t stand to kiss anyone but me. If that ever changes though, you’ll be my first call, fuckboy.” She winks at me.
It feels like I’ve just been punched in the gut and my whole world has been turned upside down, by a woman who doesn’t even like me.
I should hate it, but I think I might like the challenge.

Going straight on to Play Fake now!

3 stars.
