We were the greatest mistake that felt so right.
When I pick up a Brittainy Cherry book, I know I am in for a ride, and The Coldest Winter takes you on an emotional one . From grief that feels so real to healing that makes you whole, this book will pull at your heartstrings until you feel every emotion possible. The mixture of light and dark moments will make this story stay with you long after the last page is turned, and I loved it.
Milo and Star experience similar tragedies; however, where one survived it, the other barley holds on. It’s really emotional and I felt myself consumed in the grief that Mile or Star feel. I had a hard time reminding myself that they weren’t real. They kept me up at night and my heart ached for them.
I don’t want to give too much away because I loved going in blind but Milo and Star came into each other’s lives at the perfect moment. They didn’t know they needed each other but there was no denying that fate brought them together. It knew what it was doing.
It’s a forbidden romance between a student and his student teacher and I think it was so well done. These two try so hard to say on the right side of the line but they understand each other in a way that only they could. They fall hard and fast and know what they were doing is wrong but they connect and love on such a profound level that there is no stopping it.
They go through a lot to be together. They risk everything and nothing is easy. They face more than one challenge and with each new one that comes along, I almost couldn’t take the heartache. When everything else is against them, their love is easy because it’s meant to be. I felt it and I believed it.
I loved that this story is not rushed and that you get dual point-of-views. I understood every thought and every decision even when it hurt. It wasn’t a story where one character saves the other. It’s about both saving each other as well as saving themselves. There is so much growth for both Milo and Star and I loved their journeys together as well as individually.
Another 5-star read and fave for 2023!
