5 stars!

This is my first book by Ashley Munoz, and I admit that it was the gorgeous cover that initially drew me to this one. Then that blurb – childhood sweetheart, second-chance, enemies-to-lovers MC romance, I jumped on this book, and I was not disappointed! It’s the first book in the Stone Riders MC series, and a beautifully emotional love story and I loved it!

Callie has returned to her small home town following the death of her father. He was the President of the Stone Riders MC, and she hasn’t seen him since she left town seven years previously, wanting to escape the MC life, leaving her father, friends and her first love, Wes, behind. Now she’s back, Wes has taken over as President of the Stone Riders MC and Callie has just inherited the land where the clubhouse sits. She wants nothing to do with it and plans to sell, which puts her directly into Wes’ firing line.

It’s not a happy reunion for these two. Wes is angry, and he lets Callie know it, and he holds nothing back. There is clearly a lot of history between them, and though they became friends at 9, fell in love as teenagers, and planned for a life together, they ended in heartbreak. There’s so much pain and emotion for both of them, and I couldn’t wait to get to the bottom of it all and watch them find their way back to each other.

I’d wage war for that girl. I’d go to hell and pick a fight with the devil if I had to. In every scenario, she was on my mind. How to keep her, how to love her, how to make her mine.
Nothing would ever change that.

In addition to all of the emotional turmoil, Callie’s return to town lands her right in the middle of a brewing biker ward. She and Wes will need to work together to uncover old secrets to protect themselves and the club, and there’s lots of drama, fun, excitement and surprises as they do just that.

It’s a fabulous ride as we get to know Wes and Callie through their experiences in the past, and their reconnection in the present. With their friends and club members watching on, they find common ground, and we see lots of longing looks, protective biker badassery, and heartwrenching moments as they work through their history and fall into each other all over again. Neither of them can deny the love that they still have for each other, and their passion for each other is more explosive than it ever was. But it isn’t the life that Callie wants, and she’s already walked away once. But Wes isn’t prepared to let her go again.

“I want forever. You agree to stay, to be mine, you need to understand it’s for good.”

I loved Wes and Callie’s story. It’s emotional and sweet, sexy and intense, and I was feeling everything right along with them. They hold nothing back, and I loved watching them fight for each other and find their long-awaited happy ending.

This is a great read and a really strong series starter. The Stone Riders are a 1% club, living outside the law, so there are dark and gritty elements to the story, but it’s tame compared to other MC books that I’ve read. I enjoyed getting to see a bit of the club and I loved getting to meet the characters that I’m sure we’ll see more of in future books. I felt so much for this group, and can’t wait for more of the series.

5 stars.
