I was so excited to get my hands on Roman’s book, If You Love Me, and it did not disappoint.

Lexi and Roman spent an unforgettable weekend together in New York but when morning came, Lexi left without a word. Roman had know idea how to get ahold of her because he didn’t know her last name or number. Three years pass and he is still haunted by the loss he felt when she left that morning. No one has caught his eye since because he cannot erase her from his memory.

Then, Lexi walks back into his life as an assistant couch to the Toronto Terror hockey team. The very team that Roman plays for. He’s getting ready to retire but until then, they can’t be anything without jeopardizing her job.

Lexi has so much on her plate but she does everything for her two sisters who she takes care of after tragedy took her mother and stepdad.She lives and breaths hockey and now has a job that will help raise her sisters. And she needs this job so she can’t do anything to risk it.

Roman is a single father who raised his daughter alone since she was six. He has the biggest heart and is the sweetest guy to the ones he loves. He a great friend and an awesome goalie. Liked by all, he just a wonderful person inside and out. He’s given his all to his daughter and hockey but now, he wants more. And though he can’t have her, he can’t stop from wanting Lexi.

Lexi and Roman try so hard to stay away from each other but with every month that passes working together, the harder it is to stay away. Stolen moments are too good to pass up. They got to know each other that weekend years ago, but now they are even more addicted to one another. They just can’t stop the pull they feel when they are together.

I love that Lexi is able to be her true self around Roman. She can relinquish control, let go, and not be the strength she’s been forced to be at all times. She feels like she’s finally home when she’s with him.

She’s the perfect fit. The missing piece. She instantly fills the void her absence left all those years ago.

The sneaking around was nerve-wracking. I was so worried how things should play out just knowing someone was going to try to out them. I didn’t want to feel the inevitable pain that was coming.

Their story is full of depth with serious matters as well at the lighthearted moments. There’s heat, heart, and humor. It combines a bunch of tropes I love, too. There is an age gap, a single father, a forbidden hockey romance, and second chances, all of which are well done.

I love the Toronto Terror series. This group of friends and players are like family. I have loved seeing everyone from previous books and I know we will get more from them in the future. Though they all go through ups and downs, they have each other’s backs all the time. They filled my heart when they welcomed Lexi and her sisters and help with the adjustment of moving the best they can. Lexi really found her people through this amazing group, and they all put a smile on my face.
