Blurb

A romance inspired by TS Fortnight”

I was hers, but she was never mine.

Alice Yates is the hired “homemaker” for the Morrisons, an affluent couple in Minneapolis. For Alice, it’s a dream job to dress up like a 1950s housewife and read romance novels to Mr. Morrison before his afternoon nap.

But when the Morrisons’ only daughter returns home for the summer with her fiancé, Alice comes face- to-face with her shattered past—the only threat to her perfect life.

Eight years earlier, vacation rental owner Murphy Paddon had an impeccable vinyl record collection and did the most irresistible thing before kissing Alice, earning him a five-star rating. Their fortnight love affair was life-altering and ended tragically.

Murphy doesn’t know if Alice remembers him or whether he should tell his fiancée that the hired-help living in the guesthouse is the woman who irreparably broke his heart. He needs closure, but will the lingering glances and silent yearning lead to the end or just the beginning?

Review

5 stars!

Alice and Murphy meet when she rents his vacation rental. For two weeks, these two open up to each other and feel something they’ve never felt before. But just as fast as they fall, it’s all taken away in a blink of an eye. Now, it is eight years later and Alice works for the Morrison family. When their daughter and her fiancée move back for the summer to plan their wedding, Alice is blindsided when the fiancée ends up being Murphy. She must figure out a way to hide the past from the family and make it through the summer without ruining everything in both their lives.

The Homemaker may just be my newest favorite second chance romance. It’s an emotional read that hooked me from the first page (that opening line!!!!) and wouldn’t let me go. I was truly invested in Alice and Murphy’s story. I couldn’t wait to get to the bottom of everything and see how things were going to turn out. I love how the story goes back and forth from present to past.  The plot and lead up to what actually happened between them and why is fantastic and so well written.  I could feel the chemistry, the longing, and the desire between Alice and Murphy and my heart ached as the story went on and I discovered more and more. Their entire story was a big ball of feels.

“I knew…that I might not ever see you again, but nothing would stop me from loving you for the rest of my life.”

I love second chance romances but I do not typically enjoy love triangles or cheating. However, this author is able to write these tropes in a way that doesn’t ruin her stories for me. She takes what is usually a deal breaker in my eyes and makes it work. She makes me need to read it. And she makes me feel everything. I am addicted to her writing and I cannot seem to put her books down. This book is the same. I want to relive it again and again, even when it hurts. I laughed, I cried, and I fell in love. It’s another fave of mine!

I have to add that I had hearts in my eyes when I discovered the little Easter Egg in the book. Loved it!
