Blurb

Thea Landry has always known her place in modern-day society. It’s somewhere just above the trash can her mother dumped her in as a newborn but below the class where much comes easy. With her tattered shoes and bargain-bin clothes, her life has never been full of glamour.

So when a rich and charismatic man takes interest, she doesn’t fool herself into thinking their encounter is anything more than a one-night stand. Months later, she’s kicking herself for not getting his phone number. Or his last name. She’s given up hope of seeing him ever again.

Until one day, years later, Logan Kendrick waltzes into her life once more and turns everything she’s built upside down. This time around, she won’t make the same mistake. She’s going to fight to keep him in her life—not for herself.

But for their daughter.

4.5 stars!

I loved this book! A beautifully heartfelt story that is swoony, sexy and romantic, with strong family themes and lots of feels. I laughed, I cried, and I fell in love, and I loved every moment!

Logan and Thea met in a hotel bar where Thea was bartending. They flirted and bantered their way straight up into Logan’s hotel room where their chemistry exploded into one gloriously passionate night that neither of them ever forgot.

Six years later and Logan is travelling for business to the tiny town of Lark Cove in Montana. He is from a family of incredible wealth and is there looking at investment options for his family’s charitable foundation. While relaxing at the local bar, he runs into Thea once again and gets the shock of his life when he sees her adorable daughter… also his daughter.

Thea’s life could not have been more different from Logan’s. She had an awful upbringing after being abandoned at birth and has lived a mostly solitary life. She found her only family in a the woman who volunteered at her orphanage, and when she found herself pregnant after her one and only one night stand, she followed the only mother figure she ever knew to Lark Cove, and there she has found the family and the peace that she always craved. She has raised her daughter, Charlie, with all of the love that she never had, and though she tried desperately to track Logan down, they never exchanged last names or details and she had nothing to go on so she gave up on ever finding him again. Until he showed up in her bar.

This is SUCH a gorgeous story! Logan is understandably devastated to learn that he has a child and that he has missed so much of her life. He immediately steps up, desperate to get to know her and to provide for her in any way that he can, and I loved watching their initial interactions as Logan is introduced into Charlie’s life and the two of them begin to bond.

“Good night, Charlie.” I pulled her closer into my side and kissed her forehead.
“You’re coming back?”
I rested my cheek against her hair. “I’ll always come back for you.”

So freaking cute!

And of course, it’s more time that Logan gets to spend with Thea, and all of that chemistry from years ago is still very much present, easily and naturally developing into something that is sweeps them both up with its intensity.

“Logan,” she whispered when I pressed even closer. “This is stupid.” Still, her hands came to my waist, gripping my shirt.
“You’re probably right. But I’m going to kiss you anyway.”

It’s such a beautiful love story, with lots of emotion, sweet and tender moments, and seriously hot sexy time. Logan and Thea are open about their feelings, they have fears and doubts, but they follow their hearts, and I fell right along with them.

But with Logan based in NYC and Thea determined to stay and raise Charlie in the peaceful life that she has found in Lark Cove, things are far from easy as they try to work out the practicalities of a life together. They are from completely different worlds!  And then take into account Logan’s career, his controlling, snobbish family, and Thea still working to overcome the demons of her past, there are definite hurdles to overcome. It’s an emotional journey for them, and at one point I read with tears streaming down my face, but I could not put this book down, desperate for these two to find a way to make it work, and desperate to see it happen for them.

“How are we going to handle this?”
Her eyebrows came together. “Handle what?”
“Us. There’s no way I’m not going to kiss you today. I’m wondering if you want me to hide it from her. Or if you’re okay with her knowing that her dad is crazy about her mom.”

And as much as I love Logan and Thea as characters, and as a couple, little Charlie just stole the show. She’s bright, bold, fun-loving and adventurous, and I adored her love for life and for her family. She’s an absolute sweetheart with a beautifully special relationship with Thea that effortlessly expands to include her newly-discovered Daddy and every moment with her is heart-meltingly gorgeous.

We are introduced to a great group of characters in Lark Cove, and I’m really excited to read more as the series progresses (oh, and watch out for a fantastically clever tie-in to the Jamison Valley series which is a fun treat for fans). And make sure you grab that bonus epilogue – it’s a must read!

I loved this one!

4.5 stars.

He stared at me for a long moment. “You’re sure she’s mine?”

“She’s yours.”

“Then that’s good enough.”

“I—really?” I blinked. He didn’t want to verify paternity? He just . . . trusted me?

He nodded. “Really.”

“I swear, I tried to find you, Logan. On my life, I swear it. But the hotel wouldn’t give me your name no matter how much I begged. And you paid cash for your drinks and never mentioned your last name. I tried, but I just . . . didn’t know where to start.”

“It’s not your fault. I believe you.”

The sincerity in his voice made my throat burn. Goddamn it. I was going to cry.

I’d worked so hard not to cry today. I’d fought to keep my emotions in check and my head from spinning out of control. But this was going to make me break.

I wanted so badly for Logan to believe that I hadn’t kept Charlie from him intentionally. The fact that a man like him would trust someone like me without proof meant more than he’d ever know.

“Thank you,” I choked out past the lump in my throat.

“So, um, is Charlie inside with your husband? Or boyfriend?”

The urge to cry disappeared and I barked out a laugh. “Smooth.”

He chuckled. “It’s been a long day for me. Give me a break, will you? This morning I was in New York, then I came to Montana for a business meeting and discovered a daughter. I’m off my game.”
